Musings on a Win Win scenerio

If the AW ban is continued by the President, pre-ban weapons will probably increase in value.  So if a pre-ban whatever is purchased today for say...$2000 and the ban is extended one might expect the weapon to be worth 2500 sometime in the future.  If the ban is ended however said weapon becomes 'one of many' now worth, ... well considerably less.  I have noticed many prebans showing up for sale too. Perhaps the owners trying to sell in anticipation of the sunset to maximize profit.  
So if I were to buy one now I could lose money if the sunset occurs...unless...
oddsmakers in Vegas gave say 20 to 1 that the ban would sunset.  I bet 100 and buy the rifle.
If the ban continues again presumably I can sell and do better than the 2000 investment and recover the 100 bet.  If it sunstets and my rifle is worth 800 I still win 2000 back from the casino and have the rifle and be up a couple of hundred.  Win-Win!

You rather generations loose a right to own semi-autos so you can gain $500 in a fucking rifle?

I wouldn't count on the ban sunsetting before Sept. 13th, 2004 arrives. There's no telling what the liberal gun grabbers can come up with in the mean time. They may even ban the further transfer of currently grandfathered SAW's, keeping you from legally buying a preban at any price.

I think you have taken me a bit of of context.  As stated in the opening this was a musing.  Perhaps a bad joke.  I can live with that, and if it offended you I aplologize as that was certainly not the intent.  
Point of clarification:
I do not in any way subscribe to or agree with the AW ban.  If it was implied by my post that I subscribe to these ideals please know it was unintended.
At the risk of again stating an inflamatory opinion I think the ban is unconstitutional and completely illogical.
Actually in a completely cynical way I guess since I'm paying the guys on the Hill and in my own legislature  I've already lost not only a portion of my second amendment rights but paid them to to take it away from me.  You are right not a good deal.  
As for future generations, I can only hope someone sees through the fallacy of the ban and the slippry slope logic that might further erode our rights. I would love to see the day I could go into the local gun shop and walk out with an MP5 or an AR-15 with a collapsable stock.  FWIW I want a 50BMG eventually too...and see no reason I (or anyone else that wants one) shouldn't be able to have it.

Most of the AR15, AKM and AK47s milled weapons are governed by the 1989 paramilitary act and not the Sept.13 1994 AWB. The ATF uses the 1989 authority to ban the import of receivers,parts,barrels,etc.(of late FAL parts and Brazil Imbel receivers).Earlier ATF banned import of Portuguese G3 receivers. Prices will skyrocket on all these items!As far as prices going down on pre-89 weapons,because of the 94 AWBs sunset-it's a nice dream,but total fantasy!
Whether expired or renewed, the 9/13/94 AWB will have no impact on value.

For the imports it would depend if a U.S. manufacturer stepped in. For instance I know a lot of guys would love to have a DSA FAL with a folding stock.  Would this impact the values of FN-FALs?  I gotta think it would have some effect on sales.

The pre 89 weapons are simply too expensive for the average joe. The 94 AWB presented somewhat of a window of opportunity for AWs- in that if they were owned/imported before 9/13/94, AW features could be added to these weapons.
In any case,I think it a would be wise purchase to buy any of the AW parts-that will probably be banned from import in the future.
