C'mon, 9divdoc, that's just a well-written article in a very conservative and well-respected newspaper, by a very knowledgeable editor and writer!

Surely you can do better than that![:D]

BTW, I concur wholeheartedly! Others, I can assure you, won't.

Certain names come to mind, Arafat, Bin Laden, Clinton, Farrahkhan, DaMan, and the usual suspects!

Nice article - the one over under Top Stories -"Saudis Brief US on Peace Plan."

Seems Sharon has now reached 53% negative rating in Israel with about 42% favoring.

At least Paolo's by-line has long stated "I support Israel but not Sharon."

Seems as if the W. Times article was written more to antagonize the NY Times as opposed to shedding light on the peace process.

I certainly don't expect Israel to return 'all' the land obtained since 1967 and I doubt the Arabians do either.

I 'DO' expect simultaneously recognition of Israel by the Muslim countries when Israel gives back 'any' land.

I wonder how much of that '53%' negative rating can be assigned to those who think that Sharon is not being heavy-handed enough with the murderous Palestinian terrorists?

In other words, some may dislike him for the very reason that he's not doing what you've long accused him of doing!

Sharon is not my man, but Israel is my second favorite country, right after the good old US of A.

And way before Britain!

You're probably right there, Eric!  There probably are some Israelis who think Sharon is not killing enough of those "murderous Palestinian terrorists"!

Why, yestereday the IDF only killed two children in the camps (a 7 year old boy and a 10 year old girl). I'm sure there are many more "murderous terrorist children" in those camps than THAT!

Sharon just can't massacre children as well as he used to (Sabra & Shatila)!  I guess he's getting soft in his old age!

Why, DaMan, you must be getting 'soft' in your old age, as well! You used the word 'killed' when describing the IDF's actions, when you and the entire left-wing world, would ordinarily have used the word 'murdered'!

Boy, you sure must love being on the wrong side of history! But I wouldn't stop you even if I could.

It's just too entertaining!

Sharon is going to go down more and more. But my fear is that Sharon will be put apart only to favour Netanyahu. If this will happen Israel and Palestinians will be really in the shit...

And you expect the right thing. I read the UN resolution about the 1967 ceasefire, in the website of the Israeli Embassy in Rome. There were both the version in english and a (unauthorized) translation in italian, quite well done (I could do the comparison in both the languages). Well, in the resolution, there is no mention of Israeli withdrawal to the pre-war borders or from THE territories occupied in the Six Days war, but from SOME territories. For sure Israel should withdraw, for sure the settlements should be closed (otherwise we will see some Israeli jews becaming Palestinian jews!), but the arrogant request of the Arabs to return to the pre war borders is not supported by any UN resolution.

I 'DO' expect simultaneously recognition of Israel by the Muslim countries when Israel gives back 'any' land.

This is the hope expressed by a long article I read on Ha'aretz of few days ago.

But after I saw a reportage, made by French I guess, on the tracks of Bin Laden (filmed in Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia) and broadcasted on the Italian TV, I don't rely on any agreement with Arabs, signed or not. It's not a matter of Islam or not Islam. It's their mind!!!

Isn't Satan supposed to come disguised as the one who brokers a peace deal in the middle east?  I'm not really the religeus type so maybe I am wrong, but I could swear I read this.

DAMNIT PEOPLE!!!!!!  Does everyone forget history?  LAND FOR PEACE HAS BEEN TRIED BEFORE!!!!!!!  I believe it was around 1937ish, and the phucker they gave the land to ended up killing 6,000,000 Jews!

BOTH sides have work to do to cease the violence, but this plan has failed before, and will fail again!  Arafat needs to step up and control or eliminate the radical terrorists in his party, and Sharon needs to give a timeline for this to happen.  If it doesn't, then Isreal must do Arafat's job for him.  A government must keep its people safe from outside attacks!
