For wolves you definitely want at least a .50 BMG. There's no way a puny little .223 could take down a wolf. What part of CO are you in, I'm also interested in hunting wolves.

Their 7.62x39 is great, the .22 Match is really, really great and their .223 is just a little bit dirty.

I've never had a problem with my AK shooting it however when shooting my AR the case gets stuck after firing and rips off a portion of the rim. Gotta keep a rod handy to knock it out.

Only had problems with 9mm in a SIG. Primers were hard or something. That's OK, I got to work on tap-rack-bangs.
1200+ rounds last year in carbine classes and no problems with the .223. |

I've put about 1600 rds of Wolf through my AR with no problems, it's accurate enough for most training...I can produce reasonable groups with it and I've never had a single malfunction.
I don't like the pistol ammo though, it seems dirtier I clean my guns everytime I shoot and while Wolf may be dirtier I don't think it hurts anything and I've found it to be cheap and reliable it's not my home defense or shtf ammo though |

I've shot cases worth of it.
Pistol 9x19 is perfect if I don't want to bother collecting brass. It hit what I aimed at. You can't ask for more than that of any ammunition. It's .223/5.56 is underpowered. A couple of years ago I used up a case of Wolf Ammo in a Session of Rock & Roll with my M16A1. I used both a 20 inch and a 11½ inch Upper. When I used the 20 inch Upper the M16 cycled slowly; the 11½ cycled about its normal speed. When I used the longer upper I felt like I was shooting an M60; slow but controllable. When I was finished there was more gunk and filth in the receivers than normal. It used to be that shooting Wolf there was a horrible stench from the cartridges. I'm glad to say I haven't smelled a dead skunk from from Wolf ammo in a very long time. In short: Fun shooting Yes; Serious shooting No!

I shoot it by the case....
In .223 I like their 75 grain steel case load and shoot it on steel at 500 and 600 yards all the time (have my own 600 yard range). I have no complaints.......... |

But as to the Russian, steel-cased ammo, I have no problems with it. People always trot out the same it'll-ruin-your-extractor line. Tell me.......in WW2, when almost ALL .45acp ammo was steel-cased, why didn't we hear ANY complaints of premature extractor breakage in 1911s? |

I'd shoot it out of any firearm that was in it's caliber range.
About 2000 rounds of 62gr. Wolf Black Box .223 thru my AR with zero problems. It's cheap, the new stuff can be reloaded at least once, sometimes twice, whats not to like? Yea, it can be a little more dirty, but it's a gun meant to be shot for god sakes. They get dirty. When M855 costs what a case of Wolf does today, I'll switch off of Wolf. Until then, Wolf all the way! Wait, actually, fuck Wolf. That shit is terrible. Please don't buy any. It will kaboom your gun big time! If you have any, send it to me, I can dispose of it safely with no harm to your safe queen. |

My opinion is that it is fine to use.
My experience is positive. I have used it in my AR and my AK with no ill effects for about the last 10 years. Its just about all I use in those two guns. As for handguns, I have no experience with Wolf ammo since I reload for those guns. |

Right now I'm using the Black Box, it's a few years old ( Case of 1k ) and not laquer coated ( 7.62x39 )

I have firedover ten thousand of rounds through ARs, AKs, SKS, and a Colt 1911. I have never had an ammo related problem with wolf in any of those weapons.

The one problem Ive seen with wolf is that the primer pocket didnt have a hole into the rest of the casing, causing the primer to go off but just blow the back of itself off without firing the cartridge.
Other than that, for plinking it is gtg. |

Clean the chamber afterwards before you run brass cased stuff in it again, that can occasionally cause FTE. |

And I don't even know how much of this is truth about Wolf specifically or just having a dirty chamber in general because I did a 'test' if you will where I shot 700 rounds of wolf with no cleaning and then a mag each of Federal XM193, South African ball, Malaysian ball, TAP 75gr. 5.56mm, and reloaded 55gr LC ammo.... Had zero FTEs on any of the brass case after shooting the wolf. Then again, there is O_P's test where wolf is seen to cause the exact issues I DID NOT see in my test. So who knows? |
