I have an 8 year old female GSD, just adopted her about two weeks ago. The top part of her nose has been getting dry and started cracking. Her nose has been real warm most of the time I've had her.

What should I do? She has been into the vet but they didn't say anything about it.

Gee, I would have figured you could call your vet and ask him about this.

Thanks for being a smart ass.

They don't open for another hour on Saturday.

Happens to our Rhodesian on occasion.

The vet usually prescribes antibiotics for it, which seem marginally effective.

For more immediate relief, and in conjunction to the meds, we keep the nose moist with (alternating) applications of a light coating of Vaseline and honey.

Typically clears up in about two weeks.
