"It's Constitution Day. Federal law requires all schools that receive federal funds to offer an educational program on the United States Constitution every year on Sept. 17, the anniversary of the signing of the country’s founding document. Is this okay with people that have a issue with the President addressing the school children?"

I replied-
"It's important and the one of the cornerstones of our country. What kind of person would object to celebrating the most important political document of American, and perhaps human, history?
Of course, I think Barry O's speech was benign and an apropriate thing for a President to do...."

I swear to G-d, what the fuck is wrong with people? How are the two items even remotely related?

There is no rhyme or reason to liberalism for the average pee-on. Just a bunch of random ,grabasstic, emotionally-driven, spur of the moment, not thought-out ideas. For the ruling class, liberalism gives them elitism.

What is this obsession with 'ruling class' among many here?

One moment they are driveling idiots and the next they are the ruling elite?

The constitution is a historically significant document, and thus learning about it has ACADEMIC value (you know....academics, the reason our kids go to school).  It is reasonable to expect that children learn about it from a historical, factual perspective.  On the flip-side, Obama's address to the kids (and more importantly the potential 'suggested activities' that were provided by the WH and the opportunities for leftist teachers to inject their $0.02) is neither historically significant or academically beneficial in any way.  Politics need to be kept out of the classroom, period.  The constitution is not a 'political' document.

A president speaks to children about education. Presidents are expected to do that, if not so directly. Likewise, public educational facilities are expected to teach children about the Constitution. Public funds = the .gov can mandate certain material, that's what is has in common.

Looked at in a sterile, objective context, it's obvious. Hofstadter's essay on the paranoid style goes into it in depth, but it's only hard to see if you're buried in your own bias.

You should have just replied with an analogy:

Obama speech goes with constitution day like apples go with airplanes.

Arguing with idiots makes as much sense, anyway.

To truly understand the insane, is to become insane.

A true, honest belief that socialism is better than freedom and capitalism, is a mental disorder. Not insanity, but a form of self-fantasy.

I don't need to listen to leftist any more, I have heard that drivel for 30 years of my life, and the song hasn't change a single note in all that time.

I also refuse to call them liberal, as a classic liberal was a libertarian at heart, and I consider myself a classic liberal.

Don't waste time trying to understand, just appose them with logic and rational thought. It will not change the long gone, but it might rescue the lost and confused.

Liberalism is a mental disorder and largely the result of substance abuse.

"The political document that recognized that government exists to protect the rights of the people?"

Well, it did CREATE the federal government.  It didn't really recognize that it exists - it made it exist.

Semantics, I know... but still.

I don't know of any better explanation for the "modern" liberal mind set other than maybe brain some damage from taking too many drugs.
