LAPD Deputy Chief Charlie Beck and Lt. Fred Booker marvel at a throw-back of a weapon - the Thompson submachine gun, made famous, or infamous, in one of a score of movies about mobsters terrorizing American streets during Prohibition. This gun was one of almost 1,700 guns which were turned in to the LAPD over the weekend as part of a gun buyback program. Residents could turn in their weapons with no questions asked and receive a coupon for $100 worth of groceries. Ignorant bastards. |

mmmm kay. I'm surprised they wouldn't have been more likely to use "Baby Killing Street Sweeper of Death"...at least he looks like he is enjoying himself.

How is any place in California doing gun buybacks with the state literally not having two cents to rub together? Or are these retail outfits donating the cards ?
And I'm not surprised that the police dept. in LA does not know what a Tommy gun really is. |

The level of stupidity in government and the media is truly amazing.

Those fucking stupid sonsofbitches. Please don't do any research or anything, whatever you do. That would be something approching responsible journalism...and we wouldn't want that.

Did they not even read the firearm markings? I'm positive it'd say 12 GA on the receiver. |
|
I just want to say right now............. if the bounty is hugh enough in turning in my AT4 tube.......cant wait to see the look in there eyes....

Ignorant bastards.
I wonder if they identify ALL handguns as "Glock Fohtay's" too. GR |

Reminds me of:
"Look. Look what I've found. An Indian arrow." "I did not know these Indians used steel." "Sure, you fool. They used the melted sabers of Federalist Cossacks." |

My first thought as well. |

seems like they always have a streetsweeper in every buyback.
I wouldn't doubt that it was the same street sweeper they have been parading around since the nineties. |
|
Hey, it's got a drum, it must be a Tommy Gun.
What I don't understand is how anyone tasked with writing an MSM piece on firearms can confuse an AK and an AR... -WhyTanFox |

I woulda give them $125 for the street.sweeper. Pure speculation, but I doubt the owner had a Form 4 to go along with that weapon. |

HEY!
That is one of those extremely RARE Thompson submuhshotguns! Hope they send that one to a museum of death |
|
So if I was to buy 100 mosin nagants at $79 each and turn them in for $100 each that's...$2,100 pure profit. Hmmm |

I thought this was a dupe from months ago anyways. |

There was a gun buy back in Phoenix last week-the haul was astoundingly huge. I think they got something like 25 guns... Apparently, there's a huge difference between AZ and CA....
