Ol' Booker looks like he couldn't be happier if he had a whole bucket of.

Great trigger discipline!!!!!

Not to smart though,

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the media never asked the guy what he was holding and just assumed it was a tommygun. Hell, an AK with a drum magazine might as well be a tommygun to them.

As egregious as that error is to us, guys, keep in mind that most likely the reporter was told that it was a Thompson and just ran it in the story. "Fact checking" and "research" are generally reserved for the "meat" of the story, not the "color." Time is a very precious commodity in the news world. If the police said it was a Tommy gun, why bother checking that? So he doesn't look stupid to a bunch of guys on a gun internet site? He's got more important facts to check.

Also, isn't that a photo caption? Reporters don't always write their own photo captions.  Could have been a page editor or layout person who came up with that gem.

Yes, it's stupid, but we're the 1% of the readers who will notice the error and care enough to think about it for more than a few seconds.

LAPD Deputy Chief Charlie Beck and Lt. Fred Booker marvel at a throw-back of a weapon - the Thompson submachine gun, made famous, or infamous, in one of a score of movies about mobsters terrorizing American streets during Prohibition.

This gun was one of almost 1,700 guns which were turned in to the LAPD over the weekend as part of a gun buyback program. Residents could turn in their weapons with no questions asked and receive a coupon for $100 worth of groceries.

  Ignorant bastards.

Looks like a pitbull to me
