Driving home early this morning from a local large city to my house.  About 60 miles of empty country roads (paved) to get home.  My car is a kinda sporty looking custom built two seat car by an odd company that probably no one has ever heard of without a google search.  Not trying to do the e-penis thing so not gonna name it.  Nuff said that it is probably what a lot of people would call an "exotic" car (to me it is not, it is more of a money pit than anything else, but neither here nor there).

Now it is 4 am and no one is on the road.

Cruise control is set at 59 for a 60 posted.  Sunday morning at 4 am.  Yeah, don't need to draw attention to myself.  To many drunks out there and police looking for such.

So as I pass an intersection I see a police car about 25 yards off the side of the main road on side road.  Eh, ok, figured there would be police out tonight, that is why the cruise is set at 59.  Didn't radar me (Escort radar detector).

I get 1 mile away (lots of flat empty space out here with a road every mile, so really easy to see someone pull out behind you and be able to judge how far away they are when they do such) and I see him pull out behind me heading my way.

Okay.  Fine.  Not an issue.  Not drunk, not speeding.  Whatever

Within the next 2 miles he has caught up to me.  Had to be pushing atleast 120 + to do that.  So Okay.  He has some big emergency call that he has to go to to justify doing that speed.  Right..  I mean seriously, police don't abuse their authority by completely disregarding the posted speed limits by at-least double without good reason right...  No lights on (well headlights, but no cherries).  I thought that if police were "running to help someone out, and endangering the public by doing over double the speed limit, well, they would put their cherries on to warn people of this huge need to protect the public, right?".  So gets within 200 yards of me, then slows down and RADARS me.

Say what!!!!!!!!!!!

Your in such a hurry to help someone (well, right, that is why you are so blatantly disregarding the speed limits which supposedly apply to EVERYONE), but yet you have the time to check and see if you can give me a speeding ticket.

Well, unfortunately, I was not speeding.

So now, this yahoo, he runs right up on my bumper (close enough I can no longer see the headlights), drops back, comes up, drops back, back and forth three times.  Since I won't bite and go any faster, he then passes me and within 1 mile was completely out of sight.

Yeah.

Please.

Would love to hear the justification for this kinda behavior.

And you wonder why people don't like the police.

Your own actions bring it upon yourself.

Bring it on.....

oh yeah, right, I know I know, completely isolated instance that no cop has ever done before.

Absolutely correct.  But not a good enough excuse to justify that kind of behavior.  So he can go fast and not worry about a ticket.  Good for him.  Perks of the job.  But the whole "Pushing me" thing by riding my bumper.

That I didn't appreciate.

One of my buddies has a 67 spyder. I bought one to rebuild but never got around to it. Sold it.

Now I wished I hadn't. I found a 68 spyder that I want and it is sitting in a field. It is white.

i was driving around in my small town once...normal, not speeding, etc etc

i'm sitting at a stop sign at a 4 way on downtown main street, i turn right passing a cop, and then i go to take a left and notice in my mirror that the cop is now whipping a Uturn with cars coming both ways (hardly any room to do a U there) so i'm going up this hill and the fucker caught me so fast, and road my ass down this street to the next stop sign. i turn right and continue on my way as he stays back at the stop sign.

the next day i found out from someone that my license plate was ran in for any outstandings/etc over the scanner (which i've never had a ticket/warning/pulled over/accident in 10 years of driving)

You know, if I could afford to have him bust my bumper ( I can't, this car is taxing me anyway with general maintenance), I would have (and well we know I would have ended up with it being my fault and as such I would have had to pay for it anyway).

But thanks for the laugh.  I walked in to the house pissed this morning, that comment, enough for me to get a chuckle out of it.

Thanks.

I think they do that run up on your tail/bright light thing so that you will get scared or nervous (especially if you were not aware a cop was behind you), you start watching the crazy car behind you and then cross over the center lane or swerve a little, then they have a reason to pull you over.  At least that is my opinion, as I can't see any other reason for aggressive, dangerous driving like that.

Many. many years ago, a cop pulled that crap on my mom late at night.   She was alone in the car, so he pulled her over because she had swerved when he ran up on her ass with bright headlights..  It was a four-lane road/two lanes each way, so it wasn't like he couldn't get around her if he needed to pass.  She was pissed and told him off –– don't ever do that kind of thing to a woman alone in a car at night, that he had really frightened her, blah, blah, blah.  He didn't give her a ticket.  She probably would have cleaned up the courtroom with him if he had.

There I was, bored out of my skull just trying to stay awake patrolling this little stretch of road around 4AM or so and I see something drive by.  I had never seen it before and I  figured, what the hell, I would get a closer look.    I hammer it down to clean the pipes out, and at 80 it only took me a couple of miles or so to catch up with this guy.  Once I was behind it, I still couldn't figure out what it was.  It looked home made from spare parts or something.  It looked alot less interesting up close.  I ran the plate to make sure this thing even belonged on the road and then got out of there before it started coming apart in front of me.   As I drove by he gave me a look like I just pissed in his Wheaties...    It must be pretty stressful just to keep an abortion like that between the lines.............

Exactly, when I was in high school I was driving to a local wing joint with a friend to eat and this assholes runs up on my tail and is just tail-gating the shit out of me with his brights on....   We start going up a very curvy hill and the asshole rides my ass with his brights the whole time.  A mile later he pulls me over for apparently my tires crossed the white line. I said you were tailgating with me your brights on, I was blinded going up the hill and adjusted my mirrors, he said too bad and handed me a ticket. Fucking douchebag pig.

So you're complaining that he did NOT pull you over?

Wait, what?

Ever think that your "exotic sporty car" might just draw attention to itself, especially since you were out at 4 AM, going under the speed limit?   He was most likely checking if the car was stolen.  If your license plate was hard to read or dirty, I could see where he'd need to ride your ass to check it. I assume he's probably worked the job long enough to know that cars that are stolen usually split lickity-quick when they're being tailed by cops, and was checking to see if you were speeding to have an  "excuse" to pull you over and question you.

So your "Jack-booted thug" really didn't do very much thugging.

Apparently you're pretty sensitive for being a 40-year old business owner and let things like a cop tailing you get your panties in a bunch.

Grow up.
