Its a friends church she talked me into going and I have been an atheist ever since my parents joined the JWs when I was 14

Good call. Even more importantly, spend some time alone with the Lord. Ask Him to make himself known to you, and for you to understand just how much you are loved. Ask Him to forgive you. He will do all these things and more. God bless.

if there is a god (I don't personally believe that there is one) I'm quite certain He/She/It does not give a rats ass is you dress up and go sing songs every sunday. If you live morally and are a good person in you heart, I'm certain you'll be welcomed into heaven with the best of them, quit worrying.

The catholic church touched on this today. I do not feel that they literally believe that bread and wine are blood and body. Bread and wine were staples in the Jewish culture then and through conditioning, every time one had bread and wine he would remember Jesus.

ETA: I am not Catholic but my wife is and it is easier to just go and participate in the parts I agree with and skip the ones I don't feel are required

Yup, its the feast of Corpus Christi. I was blessed with an awesome priest when I was undergoing Confirmation, he helped me form my opinion on many tough issues. As a matter of fact, hes the one that first exposed me to the idea of the RKBA as a God-given right rather than from the government.
