I decided a Glock 19 is in my future, but I don't have the cash to go buy one right now (won't probably till next fall). I already have a Glock 22 (full size 40 s&w if you're not a Glock person), also have an XD40 subcompact. Thinking about trading or selling the XD40 to get a G19 for CCW. What says the hive, good idea, or keep the XD since after all its my only subcompact and hides easily, and wait to buy the Glock?

Don't sell/trade it. Selling firearms almost always results in a loss of money. Just use what you have until you can save enough to fund the purchase. If it was a hi-point or something, sure, but an XD is a nice gun too.
That said, all my bottom-feeders are Glocks. I love 'em. |
|
Is there anything you do not like about the XD? I recommend keeping it if you like it and save the money back to buy the glock. That said, you may want to start buying mags for the glock now, even if there is no ban, they arent gonna get any cheaper.

You must get a 19 at some point. But, I think you should keep the XD. As you said, it's your only sub, it carries well, and you have a specific use for it.

had a glock...tried an XD...sold the glock...NEVER LOOKED BACK!

Ditch both and get the G19, a boat load of mags, and as much ammo as you can. No point in have a .40 and a 9mm if you don't have the money to feed both easily. |

Nothing wrong with either gun however the largest number one complaint on the XD line is that the custome service sucks, availability for armorers training and parts.
Civilian market has been buying the XD up like hot cakes but th Glock has been around and functionally hasn't changed much since it's inception. The glock is tough..ugly but tough. |

I like the XD, just don't shoot it very well. Within 15 yards I have no problem with it, I could keep my shots in someones chest doing a mag dump anyway. But with my G22, I can punch out the 9 ring shooting fast at 15 yards. A lot of my issue is concealability vs shootability I think. Can't decide if I want to sacrifice the easy to hide gun for one I shoot better. |
|
That is by far the best I have seen yet....right click.... |
|
I've sold one gun in my life. And i've regretted it every day since.

well in all honesty I'd probably keep the XD and forget about the glock. I have an older 2nd gen G19 and honestly I virtually never shoot the thing. I've had fleeting thoughts about selling it but everytime I get ready to I realize I'm going to lose money on the deal. It's not in the best shape, there's some plastic missing at the bottom of the grip on one side and on the other side there's a harline crack that's 1/2" long, neither effect function but when I go to put a value to it I get nothing but lowball offers because of it. Has some holster wear too since it was a PD trade in and the night sights are fading out. I never carry it either becuase it doesn't conceal well on me (doesn't fit my body as well), ironically my USPc conceals a lot better and it's a slightly bigger gun.
YMMV |

I had a mostly cosmetic defect crop up with the first xd I bought... Springfield paid for me to overnight it to them, and they overnighted me back a new pistol, with 2 free mags for the trouble. Doesn't get better than that. |

BASTARD! I vote pie. Haven't tried the XD yet. |

I've seen a lot of XDs in training classes go down, lock up and generally fail. Get the Glock.
Then again, if you're a collector, keep the XD. I'm not and do the "multiple copies of the same gun" thing. |

Yes, because of the caliber switch. I'd much rather have a 9mm than a .40, but this is in NO WAY disrespecting the Springfield Armory XD pistol.
I have both pistols, and while I think that the Glock 19 is the perfect pistol, I love my Springfield XD 9mm compact. It's about the size of the 19, shoots great and is absolutely reliable. Accuracy is almost identical to the accuracy of the Glock. |
|
Don't get rid of the XD, much better firearm than the Glock!

Why not get an XDm in 9mm instead? Is the XDm about the same size as a G19? I want something smaller than my G22, but I do really like the XDm 9mm. |
|
Glock ain't perfection, but since I've gotten my G17 and G26 I'm shopping my XD(no M)9 to get the G19 and complete the series.
I would rather have three guns that take the same mags than one gun that I like a little more. |
|
Glocks are okay and i've used them as issued weapons enough, but I bought an XD.
|
|
dont ditch the xd. i have fired both and own the xd. glock is just not my thing, it is for some people.
|
|
Send the G22 for a grip reduction to G23/G19 length. Get a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel and some KCI G19 mags. Keep the XDSC. Save the $$$$.

No man should be without a Glock 19. I am without a G19, but have 2 G17's, G34, G26, G30, G33 and a G20, so am I forgiven |
