Dell running Vista Home Premium.  It didn't have SP1 on it when I bought it.  Loaded Adaware, Spybot, and Zonealarm free firewall when I got it home last April.  Loaded SP1 on it a few months ago.  Adaware came out with a new version a few weeks later.  Computer would not allow installation to complete.  I forget what the error was.  Yesterday, Zonealarm came out with a new version.  It would get to 97% of the install, then a box would pop up and say True Vector (part of ZA) was not responding and Windows couldn't find a cure for the problem.

Can someone please help me?  I'll give you a free internet if you can help a brother out.

Delete your system 87 folder.

Kill the zone alarm process and try to reinstall the update.

BTDT.  Even removed ZA via Control Panel, then tried a new DL and reinstall.  Same shit.

I hate Windows!

I would try to remove both Adaware and Zone alarm via Programs and featurs on the control panel. If you can sucessfully uninstall them I would leave it that way. What are you running for anti virus? Most of the time computers run like crap it's becasue the system is loaded up with to many anti spyware/Firewall applications. Vista is relativley secure by itself and shouldn't need anything other that 1 quality antivirus software package and making sure you have UAC turned on.
