Calling cards, itunes cards, Visa/Mastercard gift cards, etc.  Lots of studying to do during tech school and not a whole lot of room to store stuff while there, so you'd not want to send anything too big.  Perhaps stuff to wear off duty, houseclothes, etc.  The ever popular photos from home are nice, too.

But!  Don't send /anything/ during basic training.  Only letters/photos are allowed to be kept.  No packages!  If you get a package, you're made to open it in front of the flight and any/all food in it is trashed then and there.

Edited to delete photo...I thought it was for a male but I was wrong sorry. I have more respect for women, so I will not post the photo of the dildo.

But a real good idea would be one of those "astronaut pens" that writes anywhere on anything and upside down.
