I copy-pastad the url rather than follow the hot-link (hot-linking polls is a no-no!). 81+% so far.
I would dearly love to be able to open carry, especially without a license. It's a pain in the ass to remember to remove my holster every time I go into town. Anyone else just feel more natural and complete with a holstered gun on their belt? |

Texas doesn't allow open carry? I thought Texas was a free state.

Because if you hot-link, they can see which website you followed the link from. If they see a ton of guys visiting their poll from ar15.com, they'll say it was rigged and throw out the results. Texas doesn't allow open carry? I thought Texas was a free state. One of the few things Texas doesn't have going for it. Some moron put into the state constitution (post-Reconstruction) that they could regulate the carrying of guns "with a view to prevent crime" (translation: to keep them negroes from hazzin' guns!) and open carry was basically done away with as a result. We also used to have a constitutional amendment where if you went bankrupt or whatever, they couldn't take your land or home away from you to pay for the debt. The yankee and Californian transplants made a big fuss over that a few years ago and the fucking inner-city morons thought it was a great idea, so they did away with it in exchange for being able to take out bigger mortgages or some shit like that. So now if you lose your job or get crippled and can't make the payments, your home can be taken away from you to pay off your debt. Brilliant. Thanks assholes. Fucking idiots. Do away with that nonsense and legalize unlicensed open carry and we're in business. While we're at it, why not use the Texas State Guard to militarize and defend the border? Then the illegals will go fuck up California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico instead of our state. |

I voted yes, but if given the option, I would carry concealed probably about 95% of the time. My logic is because say i stop a the local 7-11 to get gas and a slurpee and while waiting for the cashier while open carrying and Little gang banger bobby decides he wants to stick up the place. if he's smart, before he pulls his gun and demands money he's gonna check the scene out. Who do you think is gonna start attracting rounds first?
I like carrying concealed because its that. concealed. Its there if i need it, but not visible to people who may make a scene about a person carrying a gun, or someone who might try and send harm my way. |
|
Open Carry? oh hell yeah! Nothing like a hoglegged .45 strapped to your hip to tell everybody that you mean business.
I gotta move to Texas. |

Think for a second: If Joe Gangbanger wants to knock over the 7-11, but a uniformed cop is standing in line inside, do you think he's going to threat scan, shoot the cop with no warning, and rob the place? Or do you think he's going to decide it isn't worth the hassle and find easier pickings? |

Or do you think he's going to decide it isn't worth the hassle and find easier pickings? Too often that basic concept escapes otherwise logically thinking individuals. Bad guy wants free money. Bad guy does not want to get shot or have a murder charge under his belt. Bad guy sees armed people and decides to rob some other place where there are no armed people. And despite the claims of some, psychotic killers who would rather have a shootout in lieu of getting an easy cash register score is an extreme rarity. Not open carrying because that chance still exists is like not wearing your seatbelt because there have been a few cases of people being killed due to having one on. The truth is - no one is going to pick you out of a crowd and gun you down for open carrying. Likewise, you're not going to save your life by not wearing your seatbelt. So strap them both on and enjoy a safer life. |
