I was writing up my "wish list" the other night of all the firearms I want and can reasonably obtain in my lifetime. The final number was just shy of 50. That is including rifles, pistols, and shotguns. My girlfriend said that was crazy and she'd never let me buy all those when we are married.
Help me convince her I'm not sick. What's the total number in you're collection and how many do you still want? Feel free to post specific collections or just a number(for the paranoid folks). Here is mine: 1.Ruger 10/22 stainless/polymer 2.Bushy Shorty AK 3.SAR-2 4.Spanish Mauser FR-8 .308 5..Global SSR-85B on the way! Not bad for only a year of collecting. I gotta get an FAL though...need a MBR. |

I have more firearms than I need but not near as many as I want. Not meant as a flame but if you don't correct this now you are in a world of hurt later. |
|
I have none now.
I want a couple more.

Browning HiPower - illegal in this state as they're not proven safe [wacko][/*]
Glock 20 - just 'cause McCarrot says they're the best pistol ever - but just make mine with 10 rounds please(see above)[/*]
Something in .50 BMG - likely a Watson's Weapons upper for use on a single shot AR lower[/*]
[red] PS: California Sucks[/red] |
|
only 4 firearms now, but 50 doesn't sound at all unreasonable. i would love to have that many.
|
|
A month or so back, someone started a post asking the question "How many firearms have you owned?" as opposed to your question. There were quite a few respondents who commented that they had owned totals well into triple digits.
I'm currently looking for a good O/U to do some casual Sporting Clays / Trap shooting. |
|
Quoted:
Something in .50 BMG - likely a Watson's Weapons upper for use on a single shot AR lower[/*] Oh damn, I forgot to add a .50BMG to the list. Make that 51. My girl is not all that bad, just got spooked at the fact I was actually making a list. She is more concerened that I'm going to buy guns rather than...say...pay bills, etc. She may have good reason to be worried! [:D] |
|
Too many, but the wish list is also nowhere near completion, so I'll just have to resort to getting more when possible...
|
|
Triple digits!!! Wow.
"See honey, people on AR15.com have lots more than I want." [:D] [B)] [>(] |
|
I may be a freak, but I'm considering buying two of every gun I want. One to shoot, one to pack away.
The logic being they may ban all the good stuff but I'll have "reserves". Anyone else? |

Too bad Tyler........................!!!!!
I only lost one in my divorce (filed about a month ago).................that was an HK-USP40c that basically became hers anyhow. I don't really mind that as I am a Glock guy and I would not like the idea of her and her son being without a weapon. Thank God she did not try to get my ARs....my Glocks.....the SA Carbine and M1 and my hunting/plinking firearms or my ammo and mags. On my wish list right now is an M1 Thompson. |

Hey!! I only have Four [white](dozen)[/white] Too!!

Call me paranoid, but I really am not comfortable with answering the question. However, I will say that my one gun safe is quite full.
On my wish list:[red]
Rifles
Remington 700 PSS[/*]
Yugo Mauser[/*]
Barrett .50BMG[/*]
Two more AKs in 7.62 and 5.45[/*]
A couple more Winchester Model 94s in various calibers[/*]
Marlin Lever gun in 45-70cal.[/*]
Two more Mosin Nagants[/*]
British Enfield[/*]
Springfield 1903[/*]
Springfield M1A[/*]
Tommy gun[/*]
M1 Garand...possibly two[/*]
Uzi carbine[/*] I sure there are many more I am currently forgeting...
[/red] I also agree that you need to solve this situation with your lady before you get married. If she is trying to control you now it will only get worse after marriage. All womens goal is to change a man once they get married. They may deny it but its a fact. sgtar15 |

I turn 21 in January and have 13 firearms of various types. 50 is kind of weak for a lifetime collection if you ask me. I'll probably have that many by the time I'm 30 years old.
Key points for your girlfriend: I'm 21. I have a baker's dozen of firearms. 50 is a low number for a lifetime collection. |
|
NOT ENOUGH!!
Welcome to Sam's theory of Firearms Collecting. You need 1 longgun and 1 handgun for every year you are old (at a minimum). Kinda makes growin' older something to look forward too. SRM |
|
I don't have any firearms - somebody stole them many years ago.
That's OK, guns are evil anyway. |

Check out my site and find out. Its in the "Weapons Closet"

Roughly forty less since my divorce in April this year.
Still have a pretty good ArmaLite collection though. Moderator Paul I do have that Glock 20, accurized by AeroTech complete with laser. Even I can hit something with it ! |

Enough to fully equip and heavily arm a full size platoon and still have enough firearms left over for my immediate family.

6 Handguns
12 Rifles 2 Shotguns I sold about 20 of my firearms after my divorce in 1988. It has taken me a while to build up the collection. I'll be buying at least 4-5 new weapons in 2002. |

It's too bad that we are all so paranoid over who knows how many we really have, or if we really have any at all, but that seems to be prudent. You would be surprised how many people here have NICE collections. Most would love to tell you, or even show you. Your total number for life time is..... shall we say, low, if you are a serious gun fanatic. Or, maybe not if you like the really expensive types; say collectable Lugers, Colt SAAs, .50s, class 3, and so on. It's a great hobby though.
The advice you are getting on your girlfriend is more important! She needs to accept your wishes, wants, expectations NOW! Be upfront, tell her this is YOU, and who you are. Did ya notice how many guys HAD collections before their DIVORCE. Mine almost made it that far too. My wife is starting to accept my collection because of the historical curiosity of most of my collection, and the fact that they mostly are pretty cheap(C&R's). I wish she had an interest in them like other fellas' wives here. Many of them own better collections than their husbands, and are as serious about shooting them. That would be great, but that's not who I married. Make sure you take a long look at the advice given by these guys. The best there is. guns762 |

I think it is known what I already own but today I picked up a new one!
2 lbs of solid, mess up someones day real good, titanium! |
|
2 DIVORCES AND I KEPT THE GUNS!!!!!!!!!
I agree with Sam, but I buy 4 to 6 a year |
|
I own only one, as far as you know.
If "she" has a problem with this, then "girlfriend" is the only option. "Wife" is not an option or your life will be very bad. "Uh, honey, I think I'll have about 50 firearms in my collection. Just so you know what to expect. " After that, she can't say "I never knew." Think with the "BIG" head. |

Or, at least, some are. I've seen some really nice used ones for sale at shows. Here's the updated list of new handguns approved for sale in CA. http://caag.state.ca.us/firearms/certlist.htm Edited to add that CA sucks. |

If you can remember, off the top of your head, how many guns you have, you don't have enough.
|
|
My girl is really not as bad as it seems. She likes to shoot and is definetly not an anti. I think she is more concerned with the financial issues. Gun collecting is an expensive hobby. Plus, I'm going into law enforcement and she wants to be a nurse, not exactly big money in those fields. That is why my "wish list" is rather modest.

I am always looking for more to add to the collection. Always. |

We seem to be at war with a shadowy network of baddies who have been infiltrating our society for years. The only shopping lists or registry data we should be providing to anyone are those selected items which are provided deliberately and for a purpose.

I don't own any firearms - only professionals like police and mall security should have firearms. Otherwise someone may get hurt! [:D]
My wishlist for now only really includes the things that are too expensive to justify buying right now - or ever [:(]. Rifles: H&K 91 Barrett M82A some FAL variant (don't know yet) Pistols: Mauser broomhandle Red Nine (pre WW-II) SIG 210 Hammerli 208 Shotgun: Browning Citori SC I can understand why someone would be concerned about their fiancee's list of 50 expensive toys. When you are young, spare cash should really be going into 401K's and other financial instruments. Then you can retire a freakin' billionnaire and buy a gigantic gun collection at hold-up prices from all the idiots that bought guns instead of investing when they were young and shortsighted. Just my $.02 |

Believe me, I'm very aware that you're selling yours (and I'm sorry to hear that you have to). I saw when you listed it here (and on the sturmgewehr site). If I had the money, I would definetely have been all over yours. There is just NO WAY in the world I can afford it now, although I really want one. Since we (sometimes) used G-3's in the Danish army, I've been itching to get one. I like the FAL, but it's just not the same as a HK. Perhaps when I get my tax rebate in the spring -or at the very latest my summer check. By then you will either have long since sold yours - or (hopefully) the need for you to sell it will have disappeared. Good luck - if you have to sell it, I hope you find some rich fool and make a killing! |
