OK, we've shown each other our weapons, ammo and other gear, let's see some mags! I could actually use some ideas on storing the things... How do ya'll do it?
This is my modest pile: Wish I'd bought more poly mags for my AK... Those things rock! A few more USGI AR mags would be nice too... |

I thought you fell off the face of the earth Mr 1GunRunner.

Mr. 1GUNRUNNER,
Can you please post a pic of your WHOLE Z06? I would appreciate it. Thanks. |

My problem is I'm neurotic and have this thing about perfect mags except for range mags so I find myself buying and constantly selling till I get ones I'm completely happy with.....[whacko]

1GUNRUNNER, I guess there is a smartass in every group, eh? :)
Damn, guys, I feel inadequate! Swire, that is one nice group of waffles! Do you know where/if any more are available? (I need 7x62) Majorwoody, Gunrunner, Swire, it's guys like you who help me out with the wife... "But Honey, I'm not a nut..." :) Actually, I get to show her how I need MORE! NICE collections guys! |
|
This was my collection as of last May, before my digicam broke. I've nearly doubled it since including the addition of a C-Mag.

Used to have 200 7.62 waffles sitting in boxes. Right now I can't help you with the waffles, but I'll see what I can do. The 7.62 that I have left are for my collection and the .223 waffles that I had are sold. If more become available I will have them on auctionarms.com and gunbroker.com. There are still people selling them on those sites but they are charging several dollars more per mag than what I was. |

Someone already posted this on the firearms discussion:

You'd be surprised to see how fast one person can run through that. All it took was one trip to an AR15.com shoot... and I saw how easy it is to run through 600 rounds (20 loaded mags), very quickly.
I have started a personal goal, to buy used AR15 mags for $10 every so often, and NIW ones for $20 every so often. A dealer at the DFW shows used to have 5 NIW centers for $100.... now they want $25 each, period. :-( I figure, if they go up in value with a re-newal/replacement of the 1994 Crime bill, then I win. And getting any new, quality, hi-cap mag, for $20... you are not going to lose on that one. |
|
too cool!!! where can I buy one?

If I had the money, I would have bought more. Unfortunately I did not. Now the same dealer is selling them for $30 NIW. Used with good finish are going for $20. [:|] God Bless Texas |

Which mags did ship new, in pre-94, with green followers? I have seem some advertised, and was curious?

Sanchez is a definite yes. Okay Ind. I'm pretty sure. Some of the Labelle manufactured teflons had green followers (in particular Armalite - not sure if Armalite or Labelle did it). Some Center Ind. may have had green followers. The problem w/ Adv.line having them is that according to comments from Troy, Adv.line was something like 70's to early 80's vintage then Parsons took over and then in the late 80's Center took over so 'NIW' Adv.line can't/shouldn't have green followers.
My fear would be that the floorplates and/or bags were switched with refinished, post-ban dated Center mags?? |

Not a great pic but this is the only one I have at this time.

Oh I wish I had my digital camera right now. My 30 rd AR-Mag collection is pretty modest (13 USGI and 9 Thermolds) but the cherry..... my 5 Beta C-Mags. [:D]
P.S. Anyone looking to get a Beta C-Mag.... I am looking to trade one (possibly two, but no more since I have 3 AR's need 3 Beta's) for USGI 30 rd Mags. As a jumping off point for offers: - 20 NIW USGI for 1 Beta - 30 Like New out of wrapper for 1 Beta - Green Followers are a plus but please don't remove your GI Mags from the wrapper just to add green followers [:D]. Edited beecuz eye kant spell sew gud |

How about an updated mag picture. They have multiplied rather quickly.

HOLY COW!
I have 2 magazines for my AR! hehehe... a 20rd and a 30rd. I know, I feel inadequate, but I'll be obtaining more soon! Don't think I'll get more than half a dozen of each size, should do me fine since I usually only shoot at a proper range and don't plink too much with my AR. |

Quoted: After all of this I feel like pretty much the novice! [:I] Tell me, why do so many of you guys have a plethora of magazines? Do I also need to join the club? View Quote Well mags are great bartering tools for one.... you can trade them for cash or almost anything else.... Three Beta mags could probably be traded straight up for a Pre-Ban AR-15. I use a formula to figure out how many mags I need. I have two Tactical Vests that hold 8 mags each... so I wanted 16 New In Wrapper mags for my SHTF closet so I could fill up both vests for whomever joins my little group as backup. Then I have 3 AR-15's so I figured 3 Beta mags would be good... 1 for each right? Well I ended up with 5 but traded two away today for a bunch more GI 30 round mags. I only had 3 USGI and 9 Thermold "range mags" for everyday shooting. I wanted a complete 16 mags that I could use at the range and let them drop free to the concrete and not worry about damaging mags (Mag-Puls are great shock absorbers by the way). So I have 20 NIW mags, about 20 "range mags", 9 Thermolds, and about 15 mags in my stash are for bartering, trading, selling, or using. Get as many as you think you need for what ever scenarios you think you might encounter, and if you pass a table at the gun show with a good deal on them... snatch them up.... you can always sell them later for atleast what you paid for them. |
|
Not all of them just some NIB 20rd made in '69 &'70. A friend of mine gave them to me a while back when they were cheap and could be found every where.
