Do you keep an empty mag in your rifles when stored in a safe, or not? What's the point of keeping a mag in? Keep out dust, etc?

I usually store them without a mag inserted. I keep ammo separate from the rifle.
I don't have any empty mags--they're stored full. Never had a magazine spring "go bad" from storage.
If you get enough dust in the action to cause problems when storing the rifle in a safe, my friend, I suggest you shoot more or get a better safe! [:)]

Both [^]
The AR's along the back wall of my safe are in socks and lean against the barrel holder along the back wall.
The AR's in the middle row wear 30 round loaded magazines as the weight of the cartriges allows them to sit up right with their magazines wedged between the rear rows.
The "social" rifle is loaded with a 20 rounder in the front row along side the hinge area where it's quickest to grab.

Thanx for the replies- I have a storage problem and just wanted to make room. I always just kept a mag in each rifle, no reason in particular. Anyway, I'll take 'em out and, Fatman, I'll try to get to the range more often. [:D]
