What do you look for in a cell phone plan?

Basically here they said the big 2 are Verizon and ATT, although others are around.  Positive experiences with those two?

Wasn't there a thread awhile back detailing how anyone could get a decent deal on an "employee" or "referrel" plan. Anyone have links?

Basically I am thinking of getting a cell phone for work and personal use and need ideas on what to look for, what plans are good, what phones are decent, etc

For work?  let your employer purchase it.

Otherwise, you need to decide how many work time hours err minutes you will be using it.  Go for the best plan for that.  Unless you intend to become a slave to it, unlimited or even a bunch of free evening and week-end minutes don't really mean anything unless you're a teenager.

If you really think it is going to be minimally used, then go for the AT&T Pay as you Go Plan, If you find you really are using more time then look at upgrading to one of the regular plans.  IIRC you can keep the same number.  (Check on that first)

Sprint SERO was the great deal, although I read it just recently ended.
