I'm just catching up on the evenings speeches.  Watching McCain now

I'm listening to a rebroadcast of the Hillary speech... God I love DVR.  Doesn;t sound like she plans on bowing out, and I can swear I heard McAuliffe say "the next president of the United States" when he introduced her.  Still listening to the speech, but she is making the arguments to delegates - we won more primaries, we received more votes.  Apparently she is scheduled to meet with delegates and superdelegates over the next couple days to make the case directly.  Yeah, I have a feeling this is going to Denver.

First, I don't see a joint ticket.  Too much animosity.  ZERO trust.  Michelle hates Hillary.  Bill will not be a wallflower, and the husband of the VP upstaging the president would not be welcome.  As much as I hate the conspiracy theories about Vince Foster and friends of the Clintons, I'm sure such fears are VERY real among the Obama campaign.  Hillary loses if a join ticket loses, she is forever a Senator at most.  Hillary loses if they win, Obama would get the nod for a 2012 reelection run... so Hillary never gets the chance to run again.  Hillary DOES believe she is entitled to this, Pfleger was right about that.  I don't think she plans on taking a backseat to a man with less of a record than her, won fewer primaries than her and most likely received less votes than her.  Just my gut reaction though.

As for gun rights, I'm hoping that the justices are aware of the political climate - they don't rule in a vacuum.  While I doubt they would allow their decision to be altered by a possible political outcome, I do think they might choose the words of their opinion with that in mind.  So if they are going to rule strict scrutiny/individual right, the language of the majority could leave less wiggle room if they think that the legislature and president might try to find a loophole and end run the verdict.  Heller is incredibly important.  The justices appointed by Bush proved how important this is.  Could you imagine Heller without Alito and Roberts?

Sorry bro, anybody thinking the presidential plane is going to have an unfortunate accident has been reading too much Tom Clancy.  It does make for an interesting movie script though.
