Rifle, handgun...
I nominate the .22LR |
.30 -06 Springfield or .308 Winchester for sure.
And duh, .45acp. All made in America. |
except it wouldnt be .308 winchester, it would have an arfcom vote and become .308 EPIC WIN |
.30-06 or .45 ACP. Both are home grown and helped shape our world.
Or .45 ACP. Even though 9mm is the most popular, we can't use it 'cause it's Nazi. ETA: Maybe we should have a good old-fashioned Arfcom poll. IBTP |

Five way tie between .45 ACP, .22LR, 5.56, .308, and the ole' '06.
.17 HMR
In all reality it could be any of the following. 22LR .45ACP .308/7.62x51 .223/5.56x45 30-06 .50BMG |
thats a glock, not a caliber. |
9x19mm Parabellum was made by Germans yes, but not Nazi's. The cartridge was around for 20+ years before the Nazi's came to power. |

x25 x38R |

probably 30-06
its about as ubiquitous and vanilla as it gets |
.308 win. baby .... Have a good evening ... :} |
+1!!!! |
30-06, for sure.
I'm surprised, however, that nobody's nominated the 30-30. |
Is that a photo of the pentagon on 9/11? Not funny, dude. |
30-06
Was good enough to win two world wars, should be good enough to be the national round. |
5.56mm rifle 9mm pistol Which is pretty much what it is right now... NATO standard... Nominating obselete rounds (30-06, .45ACP) may be a tribute to the pig-headedness that created .308 Winchester.... But that's hardly something to celebrate... Although the .308 is a decent round for belt fed weapons... |
And if we had had 5.56mm & the AR back then? Sorry, but 30-06 still being issued as an individual rifle round when WWII started was the result of the Ordnance Dept plugging it's ears & screaming TRADITION! The same thing that got us those stupid en-bloc loaders for the Garand vis-a-vis a real box mag... Not some superiority of the round itself... |
Yes, that is a picture of the Pentagon after 9/11. And that is not funny. |
