I joined sometime in 1999, I know it was before Y2K because I remember all the posts about that.  I had a different username.  Then I was computerless for a while, and when I got a new job with internet access in late January 2001, I signed up again shortly thereafter.

Me too.  I started on the mail list after being on rec.guns for some time.  I think the forums started 1998 but I predate the forums here.  Kinda crazy how things have changed!

Lurker since late 99.  A friend took me to a gun show and I fell in love with the AR15 type rifles.  Afterwards I went to the Internet search engines for more information and found the site.

I think I got my first ar in 95, so I would have joined up right after that.  Man that was a lot of South African battle packs ago!

about 99 or so I found this place. It used to crash a lot in the early days I stayed away for while then returned.

I originally joined in 1999 to show my dad things about AR15s before the California AWB took effect in an effort to try to get him to buy one.

It worked.

After that I didn't really have much use for arfcom until February 2006, when I found out about off-list lower receivers in California. My old account didn't work anymore, so I made a new one.

Yup, I was on the old board looking for how to build an AR info...

I remember there was a major website change and everyones member date was defaulted to Nov 2000.  What was the deal with that and is there any way to know your original sign up?

Funny, every time I see a member date above 2004 I feel old but I still see quite a few Nov 2000's.  Wonder how many discussion boards can say they've had so many members that long?

I've been here since 1998. I mostly forgot about the website during the early 2000s though.

I had a different name on the old board. I was going back to school during the revolution, and didn't re-up until 2001. I tried to get my old name back, but I think I missed the window or something. At the time, I was driving an old Benz wagon, thus the new handle. I sold that car 5 years ago!

Anybody remember the discussions we had in the fall of 2000 about whether or not Bill Clinton would leave office willingly or concoct a reason to stay in office?

Or go back even further and all the yapping we did after the impeachment and if the Secret Service would fight it out with the US Marshals if Bill was convicted?

I remember the pre-2000 days and all the loony Y2K arfcom shit..  I actually had someone on the line to pay me to add 19 to the 2 digit date code on LC brass..

I don't remember us getting bumped to Nov 2000.. I must have napped through it.. but obviously it happened..

I started lurking in mid 1999 after I heard about SB23. Joined in July of that year under a different name. Came over to this board as soon as it came on line because Ed asked us to stress the board. A year or two later I changed my name to this one, and that's that.

There are certainly people who have been around longer, even back to the old AR15-L days of the mailing list.

Can't believe it's been almost 9 years.

I've been here since about 1998. I mostly lurked on the old board, so I wasn't in any rip to register on this new board.

That's why I show a Feb. 2001 join date. But I was here for years before that.

As am I.

I had to become The_Rock here since this forum software wouldn't support a space when I signed up for this account.

Lost my 2000+ post count!!!
