if they could produce something as fantastically weird as Devo. I challenge you to find a better '80s video than Freedom of Choice.

Were not the 80's the era where you could buy all kindsa cool EBR's for peanuts....what wasnt to love...shame I was born i the wrong country
It could have been weirder. Mark Mothersbaugh:
Johnny Rotten as a nerd rocker.... |
Judging by what Johnny Rotten did with P.I.L., this may not have been all that incongruous.
I think that would have been a legendary and entertaining disaster. |

Yep...a stunner...I have never seen that before |
BAN HIM!!! That shit wasn't funny the first 1,000 times it was posted |
Poor use of the rick roll in this thread, it actually belongs here.... |
better be careful Staff has posted in BIG RED LETTERS about reporting rick rolls in GD. |
Devo don't have nothin' on Swayze!
I had to do it at least once since I am always late to the party. This will be my last time I promise,... but I do remember him on TV during the 80s. |

I'll see your Freedom Of Choice & raise you Beautiful World Possibly the best Devo song ever. More '80s goodness Gary Numan ..not sure if the song came out in in '79 or 80 but the video was an early MTV staple. |

Freedom Of Choice is pretty weird, but nothing really beats Peek-A-Boo. 'Course, it's all Devo.
Also: the 80s were the era of Reagan. Who was totally awesome, and a sex machine to all the chicks. |
Back in '65 you could just order out of a magazine and it would be mailed to you direct..........

Try to grow up. I know it is hard for you - but give it a shot. |

Rickrolling in an 80's video thread is about the height of stupid.
I saw DEVO in 80' on the Freedom Of Choice tour. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. As weird as they are, they were a great live rock band. devo uncontrollable urge - live Devo "Gates of Steel" LIVE 1980 Devo Live1973 Kent State University Creative Arts Festival (Ur DEVO) Colonel Hurtz |
Cars was released in 1980. |
A great performance on Sat Night Live (when they actually sang live)
Devo: Satisfaction (Saturday Night Live) |
Starting a thread about the 80s in the height of RicRolling is stupid. |
I saw Devo in concert in the early 80s. I've seen a lot in my life - but I count that night as one of the bizarre experiences I have ever had. The audience was a freakshow of its own. |

Take a listen to Gary Numan Hybrid and tell me Nine Inch Nails didn't rip off the sound.

I'll add another from the 80's. Danny Elfman made good with all the HollyWeird soundtracks he ended up doing. Guy is very talented and a little off in the Devo kind of way. Oingo Boingo and who could forget Talking Heads The 80's rocked. |
Devo still plays shows once in while, they played Detroit last year. Iggy Pop still does shows too. Remember this one:Repo Man
Whip It
the '80s were COOL; I miss them. C'mon, music like this, Reagan pasting Khadafi's tents, "Tear down this wall!", exhilarating times to live in. |
I'm a Devotee, got all their albums on CD, even some weirder ones.
during the 80's electronics were pretty wimpy, but the CD did come out in 1986. VHS still ruled as did 4:3 SDTV. Cars were wimpy, even so called sports cars. The 1989 import ban didn't happen till 1989 when most of the 80's was already over. HK94's could be had for $400 or so. There was no internet, that kind of sucked. |
Weirder like the Residents? The Residents |
I've always been somewhat of an Oingo fan yet more '80s cheese Dead Or Alive Adam Ant |
Yeah, but we appreciated porn more, if only because of the embarrassment of handing over the magazine and cash to the nice old lady behind the counter at Eckerd's |
"Ah, nothing special, how 'bout you?" "Cool. Well, I guess I'll get these gummy bears, a pepperoni stick, Coke, and a Club - It's for my dad... it's his birthday." |
