Criminal Justice Presentation. Need ten things that have significantly impacted the criminal justice system in the past ten to fifteen years. + how and why.

So far I have:

Cameras - dash board/security
Fingerprints
DNA
Miranda rights
Less than lethal-ROE-Force Escalation

Considering:

breathalyzers
Criminal data base - NICS type deal
communications ??

I'll figure out the how and why, but other ideas would be helpful.

Many Thanks.

How about,

Immigration policy
Civil Liability
Illicit Narcotics
Terrorism
Plea Bargining
Prison over crowding
Technology
Community Policing
Political impact on legislation

Go to an academic journal database, I like JSTOR, and search for these topis. Each one of them would be enough to spend an entire career working on.

Good Luck

How about the INTERNET!

It puts law enforcement in the spot light any time something happens that the people don't like.

Only now, instead of it being a "local news story" it can get world wide attention.

May be good or bad depending.
