After owning this rifle for a few weeks I finally got a chance to shoot it today. It's equipped with a EoTech 512, Arms #40, Samson FFS and a cheapo Grip Pod.

I went with a friend of mine and this is what our rack looked like

..who says that there's an ammo shortage , I brought almost ever AR mag that I own, and each one was fully loaded.

..and of course my shooting buddy brought some ammo of his own

Here's Mark shooting the 556

..and myself

Took a few shots to get the EoTech sighted in

..but after that it was on

Now keep in mind that I'm not trying to be the most accurate shooter out there, fist sized groups at 50yds is fine with me, plus once something gets sighted in I tend to get a little trigger happy

After it was all said and done the Sig went through 450rds of mostly Wolf 55GR and a few rds of Black Hills and AdCoM.

Noticed this brass build up when I was putting it back into the range bag, no big deal I'm sure that it will come off.

Overall I am very pleased by the rifle and adjusted to the 2 stage trigger very quicly, infact it spoiled me so much that I'm going to have to get a 2 stage for my AR. The one thing that I did notice towards the end of the day is that my hand felt tired, I guess the mixture of the fat grip and my carpal tunnel made my hand wear out soner than I expected, I do not have this problem with the MIAD on my AR.

..and the quote of the day goes to my buddy Mark.

"Shooting the AR is like driving a Mustang GT where as shooting the 556 is like driving an M3."

I don't know why people diss the SIG so much. I think it's cool looking with the railed forend and maybe a MagPul CTR stock...

Did it choke at all or run like a sewing machine?

It ran perfect all day long UNTIL I ran some AdCom through it after a few hounds rds of Wolf and BAM, stuck case. I used a cleaning rod to get the case out and it ran fine for the rest of the day.

I am wondering if that was meant as a slam, and GrumpyM4 did not bother to look at the pictures and see that your Sig 556 in fact DOES have iron sights.

If an honest question, I apologize.
If a slam, well, there is no middle finger smiley.

But, but, but.......  The 556 is a piece of crap!  It will fall apart and it has sub standard parts everythere!

Nice rifle!  thanks for the positive report.  The 556 has been bashed to death here and it's nice to see yet another happy owner of a 556.  When I can, i'll be picking up one to replace the ones I had to sell

Ahhh.. Lil' Chris has grown up.

Well if the 556 is an M3, then putting a can on it would be like putting a Superturbonawzcharger on the M3.

Need me to help you set up the paperwork? Oh yeah ASC aka Fud-R-Us for the suck.

I had a blast at the range.  I forgot to bring a screwdriver to attach the rear sight on my 16" A3.  Oh well, I mainly shot my SP1,  Placing my shots better than Ghetto did, I got a better group open sight.

I can't hold that against Ghetto, since he was firing at least 2-4 shots per every one shot of mine.  So I took a bit extra time aiming, got a better group.  Towards the end of the day, I was still setting my shots, while Ghetto getting really trigger happy.

No, I tried several times to get a picture of it, but his camera is slow to respond.  I couldn't snag a pic of it in the air.  The pic of him from behind, there is a brass blur right by his front sight.

The XCR is a great gun, but man is it heavy, and who's to say what's going to happen when/if they go out of business? I'm pretty sure that Sig Sauer will be around for a while

It really is, after putting 100rds or so through it, I picked up the AR pulled the trigger back like I was used to do with the 556 and *BANG* whoops, (of course the rifle was pointed down range and on target) the AR doesn't have a 2 stage like the 556

So now I gotta order one for it

Very nice - you got it at a good price, too.

My only suggestion: investigate the macro function on your camera, it will make all those close-up pictures nice and clear.

Congrats on the nice running rifle.  I just took my 556 out to the range and the damn thing is really impressive.  The recoil impulse is nil and the thing is back on target for a follow up shot quicker than anything I've shot.  I went through 25 mags of wolf without a hitch.  Enjoy it.
