No, it is not.  It's a striker fired pistol, single actions have a hammer that can be cocked, it does not.

It is the same as a Glock action. So it is neither single or double.

BATF calls a Glock a DAO. I dunno how the XD would be any different.

I've heard Single Action striker-fired. I forget if springfield has their own name for the action, like Glock has their Safe Action System.

It is a striker fired pistol, but as said above the striker is only released by the movement of the trigger.  For all practical purposes it shots like a single action.

+1

Since the ONLY thing the trigger does is release the striker/hammer/anger of God, the mechanism IS single action. Whether it's striker or hammer based is irrelevant, as there have been SA and DA based on both.

If all the trigger does is release the hammer/striker : single action
If the trigger cocks the striker/hammer ALL THE WAY : double action

The Glock is both and neither.

The XD is single action only. Funny that the trigger feels about the same as the Glock, both in length of pull and weigth.

Your are mostly right!!  The Glock's striker is pre-cocked an average of 60% while the XD's striker is pre-cocked an average of 90%.  Therefore the BATF, with the idiocracy of Sprinfield Armory's lack of definition in their application, has defined the the gun as single action.  However similar it is to the Glock, the BATF made the determination- SA!!

as said before

Single action as the striker is pretty much cocked when operating the slide

pulling the trigger does very little to move the striker to the rear
