Two related items: I called Natchez today to order some ammo. I was told their .223 was almost depleted, from orders just today. If it's true, when will the price gouging begin?

I also heard on ABC radio this evening that Kmart has halted all gun and ammo sales in light of today's tragedy. I realize that most of us probably do not frequent Kmart, but it was none-the-less interesting.

I ordered 500 .223 and 500 .308 today from Eric the ammoman. All I could afford, unfortunately.

Received an email saying it's already shipped. Tracking number, as well. How's that for service?

Some of us who spent long periods of time being unemployed still don't have the luxury of stockpiling.  However, I'm putting in an order for ammo tomorrow if I can find any.  Worst case scenario is I give Academy $3.99 for 20 rounds of Winchester.

God Bless Texas

I also bought a thousand rounds from Eric today and got the same e-mail, damn he is fast.

There is a gunshow this weekend. Hopefully, they will have .223(and not priced through the roof). Already told the wife that we will be there first thing in the morning, and that we are gonna stock up on 223 and 45. I have about 700 rounds of 9mm left. (Is that a "stockpile"?)

Yeah... I'm a laid off tech worker as well.. I can't afford to stockpile ammo so today I bought ammo I couldn't afford but thought I had no choice. I spent $35 on some .223, .45 and 00 Buckshot. Not much but it's something... in the past if I bought ammo it was usually to go shooting. Spending thousands on my firearms isn't to protect myself, it's to have fun, but I find many uses for things.

I am not expecting any domestic trouble, but it would sure would be better to have and not need. I shot up all my 5.56mm last week [:O] Still have a few thousand rounds of 22lr, though. Better than a baseball bat.

Not unless you have ammo for it.

I heard reports of 150 dollar SKS's going for 450 and up yesterday.

I just placed an order at SportsmansGuide.  Not sure if they have any ammo left or not.

Where is a good place to get 00 buckshot?  I've never ordered any before and prices seem high for 00.  Is 00 that much more expensive than #8 shot? and sold in 5 round boxes?

I figured you at least have about 5 bricks of .22 around, and 1-2 boxes of 38 ammo lying around there in the "love-pit".

Luckily I placed my ammo order last week. Got about 2000 rounds that will be here tomorrow. Guess I may have lucked out on that by missing the "panic scavengers". Can't believe how nutty people get during the rough times. Jacking up the price of everything isin't going to help those folks out on the east coast. ergghhhhh.

I was good to go on ammo for sure already, but I made a order to AIM, and went to the gun store yesterday to hang out with the fellas, and picked up 2 bricks of .22 that my romainian trainer liked.
Ordered a case of russian 7.62 * 39, 600 rds of SA .223, 100 rds of .38, 150 rds of 9 x 18.
Now, this is on top of what I had on site. I was a little lite on the trigger finger from the last meet over labor day, and I showed up late too. Saved a lot from there, still in the ammo cans, ready to go.
300 rds of 38, with 50 of the +p.
150 rds of 9 * 18
300 rds of 9mm
2500 rds of .22, mostly walmart specials
150 rds of 12 GA, with 50 of that slugs and OO, rest #8 shot.
3 rds of 50 cal FMJ
1000 rds of 7.62 * 39
1000 rds of IMI green tip .223
500 rds of 55 grn AE FMJ
300 rds of spanish steel core,
150 rds of SA 55 grn FMJ.

I have finally made the arsenal status!! A offical gun nut and such!!!
Over 10,000 rds!
