Leupold makes a rimfire special - more than $200 you could look for a used one.

I have a Tasco world class on my 10/22 works great they run about $89 new

I already have a volquartsen Trigger Guard 2000 so I'm set there. Hogue overmolded 10/22 stock. And a factory bull barrel. I bought a Bushnell scope for it but it is a riflescope, not made for rimfire. I did not understand and pretty much still don't the parallax issue.

I have a 10/22SS with a Choate PG stock blah blah, Anyways, before I put the stock on it. I had a Simmons 44MAG scope on it. Its a FIXED 4x rimfire scope. Can't remember how much I payed for it, but it was a great scope. I now have mounted a red dot, that I like for plinking.

Parallax from Leupold

"Parallax is essentially an optical illusion. It is the apparent movement of the target relative to the reticle when you move your eye away from the center point of the eyepiece. It occurs when the target does not fall on the same optical plane as the reticle.

Maximum parallax occurs when your eye is at the very edge of the exit pupil. (Even in this unlikely event, our 4x hunting scope focused for 150 yards has a maximum error of only 8/10ths of an inch at 500 yards.)

At short distances, the parallax effect does not affect accuracy. (Using the same 4x scope at 100 yards, the maximum error is less than 2/10ths of an inch.) It is also good to remember that, as long you are sighting straight through the middle of the scope, or close to it, parallax will have virtually no effect on accuracy in a hunting situation."

Leupold's settings:
Handgun scopes - 100 yards
Shotgun scopes - 75 yards
Rimfire scopes - 60 yards
Hunting scopes - 150 yards
M8 2.5x20mm Compact - 100 yards
Turkey Ranger - 40 yards

I set mine up with a 6-18 rifle scope with an adjustable objective. I regularly shoot on the CA coast in the afternoon. It gets pretty windy at the Los Altos range at about 2 o-clock... at 100 yards no beer can is safe. Now if only furry critters would sit right @ 100 yards hmmmmmmmm

oops was talking to my daughter and posted too soon...

anyway I have several rimfires at my disposal and they all don adjustable rifle scopes.

I have a Swift 669 6x18 on my Ruger. It has the adj. objective and target turrets. The optics are outstanding for the price range- about $160. It also has a "real" lifetime warranty. They will fix or replace for as long as you own it. If you want to put each bullet in the same hole, definitely get a scope with the adj. objective. You wont see a rimfire benchrest shooter without one. Mine adjusts from 10yds to infinity. Weaver also makes some excellent scopes in your price range.

Guys thanks for the info! Needing a scope seems minute at this point with all of the chaos. If anyone else has suggestions please post other options. Doing the research on the current options as we speak!

I got a chinese made scope called "Blazer"... its a fixed 4X39 scope for $19.95.... know what? It keeps zero just as good as my Leupold... now I wouldnt go and put it on my 7mm, but on a 10/22... great little scope, great quality too.

Thanks for all of the help. I went with a Bushnell Trophy Hunter 4x12 with an adjustable objective (10 yards to infinity) it solved all of my problems as far as parallax is concerned. I had to shell out another $30 for leuopold high scope ring because of the bigger objective. The whole setup ran about $230. Its hard to believe that I only paid about $230 for the original gun but after all of the volqurtsen parts, scopes, mounts and barrel I probably have the cost of three new 10/22s in one gun (with a lot of leftover parts) I bore sighted it last evening and will give her the fine tuning this weekend at the range. (of course I will have to bring one of my ARs out of principle) Thanks again for the help

I have a Burris compact 4X on one of mine that I bought around five years ago for $149 and on another I have a steel tube El Paso Weaver K4 that I bought used from the Gun List and had a new reticle installed along with resetting of the parallax for about $90 all together. Both scopes MADE IN U.S.A. There is a tendency to get the cheapest scope you can find for your trusty .22, but what gets shot the most in your household? Don't be a tightass, buy the best that you can afford. BTW, 9livdoc has offered an excellent deal. Take it.

Airgun optics are the most rugged ones to use, I have a BSA variable 20X on my target 10/22.

The fine duplex is all around great for semi serious 3 position and offhand Challenge type games. The bottom duplex point is your Kentucky elevation for 100 yards, when you are shooting timed events and you don't have time for sight adjustment.

A cantilever mount is also better than directly to the reciever.

Well, there is the factory mount requiring tipoff rings (no good), or the one-piece Leupold mount that doesn't mate very flush with the 10/22s receiver, the Weaver T09 aluminum mount with a limited number of positions (okay), or the B-Square Weaver-type mount with multiple positions and two different finish types (BEST). The Burris will most likely have to be ordered directly from B-Square, but Graf & Sons [url]http://www.grafs.com[/url] may have it. Use Burris Zee Rings.

Does the Bsquare mount require additional drilling and tapping - is this the Interlock mount that goes for about $15 ?

I have the Bsquare catalog and it's a little confusing They have three different mounts for the 10/22: one called the Ruger to Weaver and this is the one they say needs additional drilling and tapping, another is called the Interlock, but I can't tell if the Interlock is weaver rail or what - it appears that this one does not require additional drilling and tapping.

Maybe I'll call them tomorrow for some 911.

The last that I knew, B-Square offered two different mounts for the 10/22. One was a cantilever-type setup that required D&Ting the barrel and one used the existing holes in the receiver. I used the latter.

I think you mean "411" and the "Weaver" rail is the one that I'm using.
