I know there is/are several groups out there that advocate arming teachers to curb school violence, I need to know a website or hotline number for some research on a speech I would like to do on that very thing for speech class.

I don't know where to get that info, but my wife is a teacher and I would love it if she could arm herself at school.  Teachers take low pay and go to a place of known violence where they can not even defend themselves.

The teachers are at least supposed to be educated. Probably a lot smarter than some LEO's. Not intended as a slam to LEO's, just a point in the teacher's favor.BP

I'd like to see them allow taser guns for teachers- it shouldn't be mandatory, but the teacher can use his or her own discretion.  Thanks again to all of the know it all assholes for the badge advice (inside joke- you know who you are). [moon]  

I want a gun!  Acutally my kids are more likely to hit, scratch, and bite me.  If most kids were home or community schooled, this wouldn't even be an issue.

TAsers are not a good choice either, some heart conditions could but them into arrest,

Pepper spray would not be a good choice, since the idea here is to restore order, not cause the room to evacuate.  I guess that a telescoping baton would be a good choice- it would put some of those little gangster bastards back in their seat.  Quote from movie: (I can't remember the title)  Teacher with gun joking to other teacher: "I told you to get back in your seat, Jose!"

Isreal is one of the very few places where faculty/administration can volunteer to be armed.  Also outside volunteers can be in the program. Grandfathers are a popular group to volunteer.  It's just another program like volunteering to be a crossing guard.

Thanks guys, I am going into education and I would like to have a Concealed. I hope we can follow Isreal's lead and protect our teachers and children. I want to protect them from the grave dangers as this world gets worse. My speech should a cinch. Thank Ya'll very much

Robbie mentioned armed grandfathers in Israeli schools.  That's a great idea.  Think of a bunch of old Korean and Vietnam vets w/ rifles hanging-out at schools.  They'd be a great resource to help counter-act the government's indoctrination.  My 12 year-old great-nephew said a few months ago that the war in Korea was caused by the US imperialistic action of invading China.  I was in Korea, and I don't remember invading China.  You guys remember anything like that?  Of course not.  I wanted to go down to the school to correct the teacher, but my wife wouldn't let me. :)

Maybe the fear of your teacher shooting them if they get out of line will make there grades go up! I know that all the teachers that I feared the most where the one's who I always gave work on time for and always got high marks.

We shouldn't exactly issue teachers guns, but if a teacher has a ccw they should deffinitly be able to carry in school. school shootings are still really rare.

At the high school I went to a couple of teachers are part-time village cops.  I hear now they are armed and act like the school cop.
What a world!!!  When I was there we made muzzle loaders in shop class and had a rifle team. I made a deer gun form an old mauser.  You had a fist fight they made you shake hands and serve detention together.  A lot of guys became really good friends after that.
Of couse we had to walk to school ten miles in the snow uphill, barefoot......

Well, the phrase that comes to mind is the 'Those who can't do, teach'.  Honestly, considering some the idiotic socialist things that come out of some teacher's mouths today, I'm not sure I'd trust them w/ guns!  

If they feel the need to carry, via say, a CCW like mentioned earlier, then I think they should be free to do so.  And I'm all for teachers and schools being able to discipline students as needed, rather than being hamstrung by a crazy system that holds them responsible, but gives them no authority as they are currently.

Before you think I am against teachers, or look down on them as a whole, I'm not.  My better half just finished her teaching degree in elementary education.  But I think teachers are a little like cops, in that while there are an awful lot of good ones out there, and a lot more that at least have good intentions, there are still plenty that are either lazy, corrupt, or otherwise completely unworthy of the responsibility placed upon them.  And like cops, these are the ones that seem to 'jump out' at a person when looking at the group.
