and I'd have to say it was better than I thought it would be. It was cheezy and campy but the character developement was still pretty good. Anyway, I learned 2 things while watching the movie:
1) Commies suck ass. 2) I need to stock up on more ammo. That is all. |
Those of you too young to have grown up in the 60's and 70's missed out on hating the USSR.
You also missed rotary dial phones and 8 track tapes among other things as well. |
Wait, you've been here 2 years and just now watched it? I thought it was required viewing? And you shouldn't have to learn those things from a movie, commies have always sucked and you always need more ammo. |
Growing up with internet and a flood of porn and violent video games made up for it |
I missed the 8 track tapes but not the rotary phones |

Ownership of the Red Dawn DVD should be required for this site.
Sure, it's not a trailblazer in the world of acting and cinematography, but you won't see any more movies with the plotline of Red Dawn again! |
And know when to regroup and organize. Probably good idea to train a little and have some buds who can fight along with you as well. |
I didn't care for it--thought it was lame but I doubt you'll see anything like it also. It really upset the Soviets when it came out. Not to mention the Socialist 5th Column here in the US. Those asshats loved the Soviet Union. Now they have to focus their attn on Venezuela, China and illegal immigrants. "Power to the People!" LMAO. Pathetic fuckers. |

How was it that you just saw that movie?!?!?!
I remember walking home from the movies after seeing that. I was just a kid, but I was already reading the Combat and Survival books and all the mag's.... I remember this one picture that FREAKED me out. There was a US military convoy driving down this road and there was a VW Van parked across the street with Hippies piling out of it, AK's in hand. You could see the Red and White striped undershirts!! <gasp> Spetsnaz! Know your Enemy! <sniff> I miss those old days. I already knew how to field strip an AK before I bought one cause I was reading up on them for the capture of enemy arms... |
"Yeah, and what does that make you?" |
Yeah, it is really lame but it is also funny...so bad it's good.
Those deliberate ambush scenes are great. I wish I could find the subtitles, when I dl'd it I had to watch it without subs. |

I loved how they are using the form 4473 against us. My plan to combat this is to put the address of my rental property on 'em so the commies will gank my tenants before they find me and my guns
Perhaps it would be beneficial to future Wolverines to get to the 4473's and safeguard them before some enemy does.
form 4473 or ...
just learn to do an ar and an ak from a 80 % reciver and parts kits, then they have no records |
No no no, Tequilla Sunrise! |

Part of it is still on the DVD, in one of the trailers for the film. I'd be curious to know whether the laserdisk looked any cleaner than the DVD (which has all kinds of film crackles, scratches, audio pops, etc.). Considering this is regarded as one of the best "cheesey" films of all time, someone really should release a special edition DVD (with cleaned up film quality, out-takes, a narrative by the director, etc.). |

You haven't seen Red Damn until NOW ???
Don't EVEN tell me you haven't seen HEAT yet ! |

Pretty sure the hating the USSR was well into the 80's I was born in '82 and can remember them always showing who won how many medals between the USA and USSR. I dunno I have a pretty good memory going back quite a bit, I remember Reagan in office like it was yesterday, not bad considering he left office when I was in 1st grade. |

I frequent a pawn shop with a nice gun selection and they have DVDs for $5 inlcuding tax. Red Dawn was there, so I said what the hell. I need to see it another 384 times.

I found the movie to be a good reminder of what we were up against at the time.
I liked it. |

How old are you people that are just watching this classic for the first time? When I was growing up if you didn't have a Red Dawn evasion plan we knew who to check for the Russian tracking device.

I was a teenager when Red Dawn was released. I thought the idea of Russians ever setting foot on American soil was ridiculous. I was one dumb kid that had no clue of current events back then!
It wasn't until the early 90's that I realized what was really going on back in the 80's. The democracts were doing their DAMNDEST to create a communist foothold in Central America, do away with our nukes, etc. etc. The Red Dawn movie would probably be a documentary if that idiot carter was re-elected, followed by that idiot mondale and so on. Just a wild guess but do you mean this..Wolverines! Run by fellow arfkommer DVDTracker. |

Yea that's the one. |

2 Words that solve the problem Private Sale! |
Well, it looks like the CIA was partially correct. And we still have that weakness. We are being invaded from Mexico.....it just doesn't have anything to do with Russians. |
I sincerely doubt it. The Pioneer Laserdisk was the forerunner to today's DVD, so if it's on the DVD, it i will most likely be on the Laserdisk. |
The Video part looks like it was dubbed directly from the Lazer (I have both), The audio on the Lazer seems crisper than the DVD. What we need is a remastered extended cut DVD But with how left Hollywood has become I doubt we will ever see one |

There are better movies out there.
But there are no other movies like Red Dawn, which is why it gets the mention that it does. |
That pretty well sums it up. Wolverines!!!! |
