The AT-4 is pretty much useless anyway.

It's not bad for bunker busting, but completely in-effective against modern armor.

We need something new for combat support troops to carry to neutralize armored threats.

The Carl Gustav would be perfect, but, unfortunatley only the Rangers and a few Infantry units have it.

It's only good for one shot. It's a shoot a scoot weapon. You can pick up an expended tube at most surplus stores.

Actually, it was a US Army soldier; note that he is wearing ACUs; Desert MARPATs are different.

Dude, all we use the Carl Gustav for IS bunker busting.  The Javelin is the smallest weapon we have for tanks and IFVs.  The only weapon in existance small enough (maybe) for defensive use against tanks by non-infantry types is the Spike SR, its a couple kilos heavier than the AT-4 but at least its a real IIR guided top attack missile.  And even the IDF hasn't come up with enough cash to start production.

I've got one my friend's brother took from an ammo dump or something when he was in the Marines.  I saw one for sale, maybe on eBay for like $400 or something like that. If it wasn't so badass, I'd sell it but it's going in me war room whenI get a house.

You mean that you have an expended one . . . right??  Because they are a Catagory I piece of ordnance (that means stand alone no other equipment necessary to fire) and also serialized and therefore traceable.  I would hate life if I got caught with a live one. . . .

Yeah who has modern armor? I don't think we will run into anyone with any unless we go to war with our allies.

It may be a dog against modern armor, but it did a hell of a job for us clearing insurgent infested houses in Fallujah (Its new primary role considering Haji has no tanks)

AT-4 is pretty useful against APCs, IFVs and the like. Tanks from the side, rear or top.

I am amused by the "AT-4 is useless, Carl Gustaf is good" comment. Both are 84mm recoiless rifles made by Bofors, indeed, the one is a development of the other.

440 grams.

The CS version is pretty handy, but I don't think the Americans bought any. They have no blackblast.

How does that work, I thought the whole point of recoiless rifles is that they use some of the gases to reduce the recoil by venting out the back?

I would wager it shoots a solid projectile out the back. That way you only need to be worried about what's immediately behind, not what's within a 90 degree zone, or worse, in the same room as you.
