Oh forgot answer the original question.  For me, I would donate platelets because they are so much more harder to get.  5-6 units of whole blood must be processed to get 1 unit of platelets, and it takes 2.0 hours versus 30 minutes to get 2 units of plaleletes, so therefore I will donate platelets.
