Following scenario based on actual events:

Let's say that a manufacturer started advertising a product that they would be producing months and months before they began producing it in order to build consumer interest. Then one day the manufacturer starts taking orders for this product. When you place your order you receive information that you should expect to wait 4-6 weeks for delivery. Then after about 4 weeks you learn (by inquiring as to the status of your order) that the manufacturer hasn't even begun producing the product and that the product won't be available for AT LEAST another couple of months, possibly longer.

Would you be pissed?

No way. He said "months and months" not "years and years."

It does no good to be pissed. Shit happens, find a rational solution to the problem and follow through with it.

I would be pissed, but I guess it'd also depend on the product, manufacturer, and how bad you wanted the product.

He should have signed a contract with them that guaranteed a date. In the construction business, if a sub is held up by another they have to be paid for their trouble. I don't really know how it works for generals though.

Rock River Arms rifles. The new 308s and other caliber AR-15s they've been advertising, right?
