T-Mobile pre-paid
phone - $40 1000 minutes goood for one year - $100 my use per month - 10-20 minutes Not having the cell phone exec's dick in my butt - priceless! |

I'm not a yakker. I've used Tracfone for the last 3 years and am very satisfied. $90 for a year's service with like 400 mins. Otherwise, you need to add $20 worth of minutes every 60 days. Can't beat cell phone service for $10 or less per month.
Oh, yeah. My carrier is U.S. Cellular. |

+1 Cellular One ---> Airtouch ---> Verizon. Continuous service since 1991, same company, 3 different names. Best coverage and good customer service. Since this is my main phone, I have a fairly sizeable package. They take very good care of me. |

I had one for a few years,but ditched it. No service that I know of gets reception at my house,which makes them useless to me. The increasing cost of service is also not in my budget anymore. I also don't like the "leash" effect that it has on me. I like my relative independence.

I do not now, nor will I ever in the future, have a cell phone. I'm not shelling out 400-500 bucks a year so people can yap at me. Leave a message on the answering machine or write a letter.
 I would probably get calls like the one I heard in the grocery store checkout yesterday. "Honey, I'm about to leave the store, I'll be home in 5 minutes." Brilliant. |

You can get prepaid wireless from tmoble for about $100 for 1000 minutes. Those minutes last a full year. The phones can be had for $30. I have mine for emergencies. I've used probably 200 minutes in 8+ months. The convenience and peace of mind is worth the small cost. |

Cingular with contract here.
I have used them for years so the contract was no big deal as the service was ALWAYS excellent. Well up until Hurrican Wilma slammed into us. Coverage in my area kind of sucks now. I dont know how a Hurricae would effect the service but I am guessing it did. Seeing as all my neighbors still have blue tarps for roofs I guess it will take a while for folks to get their towers repalced and stuff. If it os not right by the time my contract is up, I will try another service. |

Verizon (only carrier that works here on the Metro!). I've been with Verizon for 5 years. I have a contract, nationwide plan.
I bought my mom a phone last year for Mother's Day, and I pay for a SharePlan so we can keep in touch for free and she can have it while she travels by herself back in Ohio. 700 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends for $69.99/month ($80 after taxes and all that other crap) ETA: Originally got one when my dad was undergoing cancer treatments so I could be contacted in the event of any emergency. Now, it's my primary phone line. Most of my friends and some family have it, so we all talk for free. My mom is getting older and lives alone, and I like being able to check on her and get in touch with her anytime--and vice versa. Plus, I sometimes need it for work when I travel for the government. |
