usually none. I wake up with my pillow on the other side of the room and sleeping directly on the mattress

That's a memory foam one, right? That's the kind I'm thinking of buying.

Doesn't it get hot though?

Very expensive goose down pillows, wife bought them a few years back, I freaked over the price at the time (over $150 each) but they are some great freaking pillows.

Because some people have back / neck problems and the kind of pillow they sleep on matters.

This one time I had a dream I was eating a giant marshmellow, and when I woke up, my giant novelty marshmellow was missing.

Tempurpedic memory foam pillow. I absolutely love it. No problems with it getting too hot.

I have a buckwhweat hull pillow now but lately I haven't been able to get comfortable on it. I've been waking up with a stiff / sore neck so I'm out looking for alternatives.

An extra-firm one.  Got it at Wal-Mart for about $10.  Very comfy, but they don't last more than a couple of years.  That's okay though.  New pillow!

One with a water-filled chamber.  If you have back and neck problems, its the best thing I've discovered. Great support and doesn't collapse overnight.  Sorry, I can't recall the name.

ETA: Here's a link to  a merchant who sells them. There is a good description w/pics:
