You know when you pick up a WWI Broomhandle Mauser or a WWII era 03A3 or Garand, how it makes you feel? You feel the heft of the steel, and the smell of linseed oil. You can appreciate the craftsmanship, metal and wood, and the sound of the metal parts inter-acting. I get none of this from the "plastic" guns. I find it humorous that in 100+ years, there will be collectors that will cherish and revere the "original plastic design and plastic quality", and the smell of ArmorAll with their collection.

They might be collectable because you won't be able to buy new firearms by then. |

People will collect and pay enormous money for ANYTHING! Look at Ebay!

They may be to a certain extent because of historical interest. TThey probably will not be as rare in good condition as older guns because corrosion is less of an issue.

By then plastics will be outdated and something else will have come along, so yeah, they will be looked at as all old things are looked at. Maybe not with a sense of craftsmanship, but with a sense of historical importance. Like an original Sten gun, not made out of the best quality, but historically significant and something you might want to have in your collection.
Besides, there are plenty of plastic guns that have gone up in value even as it is, in the few years since they became prevalent. Ask any HK Mk23 "SOCOM" owner. |

Some of the rarer models will be. A first generation GLOCK 19 already fetches a premium price from collectors.
