Even professional drivers wreck their shit sometimes. Chances are these guys were doing something stupid though. Seems like most pro drivers crash their cars for the same reason too...

What's the deal? Is this a problem? Notice the car in this thread and the car pics I just posted the link to are two different cars.

I bet that's two more cars than Ford actually crash tested.

Damage to the car in the first picture doesn't look that bad.

Sure, it crunched the body work and probably anything like a front mounted radiator.

Look at the cabin, no stressed metal, doesn't look like the wheel alignment is terribly out of whack.   In the side shot with the door close, can't tell if the door is just partially closed or if the door buckled upwards from the hinges being bent due to structual problems.

The structure of the cars frame may be good, sheet metal probably just goes tango uniform in just such an impact.

I'll give the guy 5 grand for it

I want to know what direction of travel the car was coming from so it would help to let me know just how it spun to get into final orientation.    To spin a car like that would take a pretty good impact, depending on the direction of travel if he missed the pole he may have had a fun trip into the drink.

Ford had to test crash at least one, maybe more, to pass safety standards established by the NHTSA.

I've read a review (in Road and Track ?) from a McLaren F1 owner who did $50,000 worth of damage to his ride less than 30 minutes after picking it up.  Too much horsepower (appears to be case with the GT incident(s)) and the rear broke loose and there ya go.

With the money the guy could have gotten a GE minigun and enough ammo to have fun with it.

Damn shame you can't buy brains to go with a hot car.
How does the quote go? "To hell with youth, we need a fountain of smart!"

The Ford GT has NO driver aids or traction control. That is part of the character of the car--edgy, racecar like and such.

Thats around the Mission Hills area I believe. Fun area to drive and tear ass around, and pretty good roads too.

Yea I was thinking the same thing, must Bob Allen's lot.

Probably one of the car salesmen out racking up the miles on a car he doesn't own.

When I was looking to by a new car, Camaro SS, I wanted a NEW car. I got tired of going to look at a new car and it would have a couple of hundred miles on it. They would say test drives or salesman driving them home put those miles on there but it's still new. Not to me. After a while I got tired of looking so I would call on the days they got deliveries. One dealer got a white one in and that is what I wanted. I drove over and looked at it in the back after they unloaded it. They told me to come back the next day and they would have it prepped and ready to go. I show up the next evening and seen it driving off the lot. I asked why some kid just drove off in my car. They say he is taking it to his dad to look at, they do it all of the time, he will be back in a minute. I was pissed. Instead of me driving off the lot with 3 miles on the car it had 30.

My desktop pic is of a blue and white one...  Having owned a Shelby GT 350 many years ago (New...tax free combat pay and re-up bonus?) I am just crying over this.

Hey, that was his "going to the store" GT.
His street racing GT is still in the garage, along with his track day GT and his show car GT.
