I've seen this posted more than once and I'm lost.

Is it out of a movie or something? Or just an ARFCOM thing?

it's an ARFCOM thing. when the gov. comes to take your guns you tell them that you lost them all in a boating accident at some really deep lake.

Thats when you lose all of your guns in a "tragic" boating accident. So when the Cubans, who parachuted in, collect the 4473's from the gun dealers they go to your house to get your guns......
but you "lost them" in a tragic boating accident and they can't be confiscated.

Of course this does not apply to zombies.

It works great except in craphole states like Massachusetts where you're breaking the law by not reporting a lost gun within a very short timeframe of it's loss.

It was a sad and tragic day.... I remember it like it was yesterday...wait, it WAS yesterday..
I was going shooting with my friends and like a fool, I didn't load the boat properly and it overturned.
Not too far from where the Titananic was found, btw. I lost all my firearms [cry]

good thing some friends were following me in their boat, otherwise I'b be down below with them.

I've got my .45 I usually carry on me in this picture here. I always take a handgun when I go down on the flats or out in the gulf fishing, goes right in the dry hag with the wallets and keys (you know.......... for pirates). I usually have a couple of firearms in the boat when I go duck hunting. My brother lost an air rifle of mine when a canoe flipped over in the Aucilla river.

Boating accidents and firearms loss don't seem that unrealistic to me.

Here's a useless firearms and boating related fact: In Florida you can open carry a firearm in your boat if engadged in the act of fishing or hunting. So if I had a fishing pole in the picture below I could legally open carry instead of having to have it concealed

I'd like to mention that .38's and 10/22's float and as such, are likely to survive a boating accident.
