Anyone else have internet success stories?

Six months ago I entered myself for the free personality profile.  It was shortly after my divorce so I wanted some feedback from their supposedly accurate and indepth profile engine.  Surprised the hell outta me cause they pegged me pretty good.  Part of the process though is they match you up after you submit it.  I got one match.  I wasn't into it for matching so I left the account alone.
Early November she sent correspondence.  To see her picture and write back I had to pay a minimum of $50 for one a month membership.  I filled out the credit card info and hovered over the -ENTER- key for ten minutes or so.  I figured what the hell, she contacted me so I shoulden't be rude...I'll go ahead and do it.  Two months later we've hit it off great.  Unlike my previous wife she's emotionally stable, has a good job, wants kids(2), likes to shoot, has a great supportive family (her Mom loves me), likes a great majority of the things I do, politically conservative and has the same religious faith.  Everything in between is excellent and I've yet to see a red flag pop up.

I use to laugh at internet dating but this experience has shut my mouth about it.  Unlike the average dating site I've seen, EHarmony seems to really match on what's important.  Best fifty bucks I ever spent!  (That'll be the tag line for when they put our picture on their site  )

I guess this means that internet dating, just like homosexuality, is out of the closet and people are now advertising it?

Just checking!

Tried eHarmony, was a waste of time.. Cupid.com has been the best for me. But each place will be different for someone else...

How many matches did you get?  Were they bad matches or did you not find anyone you liked?  What happened?

I've found that internet personals/dating sites are only worth what you're willing to put into them.

Done it already, nothing there!  We've disclosed everything to eachother and I'm comfortable with her past.  She's divorced too.  We've both come out of divorce knowing exactly what we want and dont want, plus we're both big on the communication and trust exchange.

My ex who I am still friends with told me that she tried it, but after taking the personality profile thing it told her that she was one of the IIRC 11% that they cannot help.

I've never tried it but I'm guessing its pretty accurate.

My cousin dated online for a while.  Match.com, I think.  He had a few dates that didn't amount to anything, met one woman he dated for about a year, then met the woman he married a few months ago.  She's a great person, and they're very happy together.

It's a good option for people who are shy or just don't meet new people very often.  I was just starting to look into it when I happened to meet my wife at a friend's wedding.

online dating sites suck, a few guys out of many are fortunate, but the fact is for guys, it's no different than the bars, a few attractive gals for many guys.
Studies about these sites show that the attractive gals are overwhelmed with emails from guys, and most guys hardly ever have few replies to their emails or hardly any initially from gals.
They also show the few guys who gals respond to are above average in looks or have high paying careers.
waste of time and $s in my honest opinion.

but good for you sincerely. and good fortune in yalls relationship.

Sad truth to life: It very well may be that your purpose in life is to serve as an example to others as to what not to do.

Edit: Which reminded me of another saying.  Someone has an over-inflated sense of self-worth.

Edit edit: Post 2929.. does that mean anything?

I'm in the category that they can't pin down....some of their questions are cliche on the profile...

There are only like 16 or something categories you get plopped in anyway.

Guess I'm not like one of the sheeple....good!

I divorced my ho wife over a year ago and hit the dating sites HARD.  I sometimes would have 3 first dates/week.  I was addicted.

Started to slow up when I got myself resituated in life with home and job, etc.  Just 3 weeks after deciding to cool it a lot, I met a beautiful woman.  We went out four times the first week.

We're getting married in April.

Dating sites rule!

You mean that they actually found a match for you?  I thought that site just took your money then told you it couldn't find one.z

I tried one of those a long time ago.

The match I got was a cynical, mean-spirited Jewish bitch. Other than the Jewish part, the female version of me. I passed. I wanted someone with a positive attitude.

Yup, which is why I have a hard time with the idea of paying for the privelege.

I went to eHarmony a couple of days ago just to get the free personality profile. Turns out I'm one of the people they can't help out.

Other than that, the personality profile seemed right on and did the hard work of putting a lot of it into words.
