Newsweek ARticle:  The Trouble with Boys

Newsweek tells us what men knew all along but feminists refused to acknowledge:  Boys and girls are different.

For Nikolas Arnold, 15, a sophomore at a public high school in Santa Monica, Calif., college is a distant dream. Nikolas is smart: he's got an encyclopedic knowledge of weaponry and war. When he was in first grade, his principal told his mother he was too immature and needed ADHD drugs. His mother balked. "Too immature?" says Diane Arnold, a widow. "He was six and a half!" He's always been an advanced reader, but his grades are erratic. Last semester, when his English teacher assigned two girls' favorites"Memoirs of a Geisha" and "The Secret Life of Bees" Nikolas got a D. But lately, he has a math teacher he likes and is getting excited about numbers. He's reserved in class sometimes. But now that he's more engaged, his grades are improving slightly and his mother, who's pushing college, is hopeful he will begin to hit his stride. Girls get A's and B's on their report cards, she tells him, but that doesn't mean boys can't do it, too.

1.  Who the fuck assigns sophomores to read Memoirs of a Geisha?  Dumbass cowardly women teachers.  Boys at that age want Julius Caesar, who kicks ass, gets murdered, gets a eulogy that centuries later still makes hearts leap because Mark Antony did a high-class job of calling Brutus a fucking liar, traitor, and murderer, AND THEN Caesar gets avenged by his buddies!!! Now THAT is literature a teenage boy can get into.

2.  Encyclopedic knowledge of weaponry and war -- sounds like most boys I knew.  Hell, at 15 I knew every type of fighter jet in the world, their max range, and their max payload.   I hope America has more boys like that to grow up to be strong warrior men, lest the French invade and take our women and outbreed us while we're too fucking busy reading Memoirs of a Japanese Fuckhouse Goth-Paint Whore Who Knows Erotic Tea Ceremonies, or Lesbian Chihuahuas in High Heels, or Ulysses.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

I hate American newsweeklies.  They always manufacture non-stories.  10 years ago they manufactured a non-story about how girls were being screwed and short-changed because teachers didn't call on them in class.  Complete BS, just like this latest non-scandal. Now 10 years later,they're whining about how girls are so uber-alles compared to boys.

But I thought girls were the victims.  Now boys are the victims?  Que pasa?

So true.
They tried doping me up when I was about 9 or 10. (Guess that was about 10/11 years ago)
My parents saw through it, enrolled me in private school.
Public schools are designed to kill the "male" instincts.
They get rid of competion, of violence, tell you that excess energy (aka creative drive) is bad, and that johnny need ritalin to get by.

All bullshit.
All part of the socialist agenda.

Newsweak is such a joke I don't even have the words to describe it.  I guess I could express my loathing but simply taking a dump, then pointing to it  - "Look. That's Newsweak."

I hear this same thing all the time.  Boys are being boys and the publik school system tells mom and dad that he needs to be on drugs.  Welcome to indoctrination publik education.

Have I ever mentioned that I homeschool my kids?

Me too.

Public education contributes a great deal to the pussification of the American male.

Anything you think your kids need to know, you should take responsibility for teaching them yourself.

Afraid this time they're on the money.  Anyone with a son in school will tell you the pendullum has swung and the entire ciriculum is around girls and giving girls the advantage.

Even the SAT was changed to give girls the edge.

The schools tearchers are dominately female and teachers courses adhere to strict social engineering guidelines with such topics as Cultural Diversity and Community Dynamics.

This is a real frustration for school age parents of boys.  I know it for I see it every day.  I have a son age 15.  Boys simply do not have interest in girly topics so don't do well.

Tj

Tj is right on the money.
Ever wondered why kids don't bring home "History" books anymore?
It's cause they are learning "Social Studies"
Have you ever heard a more Orwellian example of Newspeak in all your life?

The American Education system fails boys so miserably it isn't even funny.
The feminsist dream is the destruction of the man.  The feminists dominate education and we wonder why can't produce any engineers.
Turn them all into metrosexual pansies who won't defend themselves and major in socialogy.

DING-DING-DING!!!

We have a WINNA!

When I was in school (1988-1992), the top students were all girls.  This was when Newsweek/Time/MSM et al was saying the classroom unfairly favored boys.

They were lazily fishing for a victim group, just like they are doing now.  It is ridiculous, dont fall for it, take people on an idividual basis.

Liberalism is KILLING our public schools systems across the country.  This is merely a visible symptom of the effects of the disease.

And such tactics as gender role reversal exercises, and outlawing the use of gender specific terms.

No matter how much we resent this and speak out against it, things will only get worse.

Men these days are not men, THEY have allowed this pathogenic virus called feminism to spread and eat away at our country like a cancer. If men had balls 40 years ago this kind of bullshit wouldn't even be something we're all ranting and enraged about.

Teach your children what they NEED to learn. Do not ever rely on the schools.

Books that teach manly behavior or personal philosophy as practically verboten as far as reading assignments go. When was the last time you saw a high school student reading Starship Troopers, Ender's Game, Brave New World, 1984, or Fahrenheit 451? It's all girly stuff, like Anne Frank's diary (the least girly book I was made to read in junior high), The Secret Garden, and romance novels. Fucking romance novels. They don't even have the decency to at least have the ones that involve heaving bosoms so the guys can at least get SOME entertainment out of it, no, it's all stories about giggly teenage girls and their latest unhealthy obsession over some guy in their class that eventually devolves into a story about how depressed and lonely she is.

Half my co-workers have kids on ritalin and other drugs because the schools recommended it. Interestingly enough, none of those kids displayed behavior out of the ordinary for what I saw when I was that age, and none of them are girls. Huh.

You know everything is that way lately. Want a retirement you can count on? You will still have to pay for a government funded one but it will not support you so you need a real retirement procured on your own.

Want your kids to amount to squat? You still have to pay for a government education but you will either spend huge amounts of time fixing his government education or have to pay for a private one of some sort.

Want decent health care? The governement will provide some but if you really want to live healthy that is completely up to you.

I am tired of having to do two of everything.

If it weren't for the inevitable lawsuits right now would be the time to start an old style military boys only school.

Yep but then how do you do that if there is no man in their life?

Lot's of good examples in literature, and I don't mean "Memoirs of a Geissha"

Kipling said it pretty well,
"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!"

There fixed it for you.

Ever wonder why the expensive one (government supplied) is always the shitty one?
