I just got mine today.... $262

I am in GA where the weather has been warm and the only thing REALLY using gas is the water heater. We use cold water in the washing machine, don't run the dishwasher too much (though a switch to paper plates is coming) and take short showers and are now showering at the gym at work....

My last bill was $144 and the previous was $90 or so...

my price per therm is @ $1.51, a year ago it was $0.89

Lets see if I am the only one getting boned.......

Mine was about $ 75. It was about $ 60 per month last year.

$30/month in the winter for electricity

Mine was $248 for December. It was based on a gas company ESTIMATE of what they thought I'd use. They only read the meters every other month. Thing is, I was out of town for half of December and the thermostat was turned way down.

They'll adjust when they read the meter next. Meanwhile, they get to make money off the interest from overcharging me. Vampires.

Stove is gas, water heater and furnace is gas. We live in a small house thats about 60 years old.
I put those plastic overs that you heat shrink on the windows in the kids room. We keep the heat on 68. The insulation appears to be as old as the house. When i finally get my wife trained to turn the lights off if shes not in the room, that bill will go down also

Edit- im not sure what the rate is but gas went up 47%

My bill for last month on a 2200 sq. ft. house, with a gas stove/water heater/furnace was $234.00.

I have a 2nd property with a small, 720 sq. ft. house. The house is vacant, and the furnace is the only thing that is using gas. The heat is set to 58 degrees F to keep the pipes happy.

$231.00 for last month...riiiiiiiiight.

2600sq ft, NW FL... I paid $150 last cycle. I musta gotten a case of the chills, because everyone I knows was $30 lower, go figure.

Natural gas, $0. We have propane. The only thing is we have a 500 gallon bomb sitting outside our kitchen window.

We usually prepay during the summer when the prices are cheap. Uually around $1000-$1300. That will generally last us a whole year and then some.

My December bill was $141.40 and my November bill was $167.83 for a 2,300 square foot house in Cleveland, Ohio with gas furnace, water heater, stove, dryer, two gas fireplaces and a gas heater in the garage. I'm paying $15.4204 per MCF ($1.54 per therm).

My co-worker lives in a 3,000 sq ft house that's around 70-80 years old. Hasn't done any work to it (windows, insulation, etc) and apparently got a gas bill of $900 last month

Gas was $145 last half of december first half of Jan., but it has been miled around here. Electric was $85 total was $245 with taxes ext. 1200 sq. ft.

Actually, that is a better indicator to be posting... What people are paying per unit.

Some of us like it cold, some don't, appliances, eff of house, etc. The bill would be skewed because of that. I can't find last cycles bill to see what we pay per unit.

We did not turn the heat on until dec. It got down to 32* in the house for a couple of days, but the pipes did not freeze. We keep our heat at 53* to save money. I take showers at the gym, and we only use cold water to wash our clothes.

Our house is over 100years old with little updates except for water, and electrical, until we moved in.

This is basically the only way we can afford to heat the place. Oh, and it is about 1300 sq.ft. of livable space. That does not include the basement.

Mine were averaging $300 to $600 per month during the winter, with my new wood stove my first bill was $105 and my next was almost $300, I dont think it will go much over $300 for next month and will decrease with each month thereafter. WOOD IS GOOD

I burn the house DOWN, then use the insurance to build a new house.

I think that there is something going on here, maybe speculation on usage by the gas company, but the new water heater might help, it uses something like 80% of the gas per month.

Can we all repeat after me.... DRILL FOR GAS IN ANWR AND ON THE GULF!!!! Anywhere else in the US with reserves too....

I live in a 65yr old brick home with no wall insulation, and old leaky windows. Approx 1500 sq ft.

Last month was around $450...

With no other gas appliances.

I've been looking into propane, but I doubt it will save me any money.

Small 3bd home, old and leaky. House is heated with 2 electric radiator heaters, purchased for $60 a piece at Lowe's. Living room is currently at 73 degrees. Bedrooms are about 68.

October (no AC or Heat): $51.42
December: $153.66
January: $211.64

Oct 28, 2005 thru Nov 26 2005 - $220.00

Nov 27, 2005 thru Dec 28, 2005 - $662.00

Consumption was about the same for the previous month, and was about the same for last year's time frame.

OUCH.

Get on the horn and call your gas company. I read the actual meter reading over the phone and it saved me $50.00.

They're charging the shit out of us for gas that was pumped and stored months ago and laughing about how easy it is to manipulate the price.

Don't give them one extra penny if you don't have to.

Hold on to your hat ......................it was..................................$370.00 FREAKING DOLLARS.
A lot of the cost is because my 93 year old Mother-in-Law lives with us and even with flannel PJ's,socks and a wrap she still feels cold unless the thermostat is at 70+ degrees - and we use a space heater in her room too!!!

Thanks to Clinton and the bastards in Congress the Power Plants were forced to convert to natural gas for cleaner emissions. So now they compete with the consumer for gas and guess who loses that contest?

Why in hell we can drill for more gas and also why in hell we can't take some of the oil in Iraq to offset the cost of the damned war is beyond me. The sorry &#*$*%*$* in the House and the Senate aren't worth spit when it comes to energy policy. And the Republicans are just as bad as the Democrats. You don't think that winter heating costs aren't the ideal time to bust the Dems balls over drilling in Anwar? So why the hell aren't your reps doing it? Instead we get all this garbage aout wiretaps. I swear the Repubs have the IQ of a damned cabbage. I'm wishing that tar and feathers would come back in style and I can get some at Home Depot. GRRRRRR!

Our Nov. bill was $62.43 and or Dec. bill was 106.12.

$283 in the DC area for December (we had a couple of freezing cold weeks in December). That's less than last year. I always expect a couple of $300+ bills during the winter and I still expect one way over $300 this winter.

What's killing me is electrical prices--I used to spend $50 during the winter now it's $100+ a month.
