Like the title says, where can you get a recent edition of the Photoshop software?

I don't really want the new one, but I'm tired of messing with MS Paint.

Thanks for looking.

Any place that sells software can probably get you Photoshop Elements for <$100.

Buy a used package on ebay, and then sell it. You should be able to recover your entire investment.

BTW, stay away from the latest version.  A 2- or 3-year-old version will do everything you need to do, and will have a much more predictable resale value.

If you want to buy one, any big-box software retailer would have it, I would imagine.

If you want to steal it, go fuck yourself.

Nononononono.

I'm just looking to get a cheap one to play with.

What are the 2 or 3 year old ones going for?

What version would that be?

Thanks,

When I was in Thailand they had copies of the full photoshop for like $2.  I'm sure they were legit!

Well that's a little rough.  Nothing wrong with getting something free as long as it's legal.

Then you're a good man, charlie brown.  Damn near everyone I know has the "if I can download it it must be free" bug.

get 7.0 if you can.  I have the latest CS2 and its really slow and bloated. 7.0 was the last one that was was fast.

If you're a student, or know a student, www.journeyed.com should have it (not made hot because I'm not sure if that's the URL, and I'm too tired to google) for a good price.

It's only slower if you're on a slow machine since it's a memory hog.  CS2 is faster than CS or 7.0 on my workstation with 2GB of RAM.

Interesting.

I'll have to find my school code and see what's inside.

Thanks guys.

I have a 4.0ghz machine with 2gb of DDR2 with 15,000 rpm ultra320 SCSI drives in raid 0...It should be faster, because the system is designed for editing HD video.  I guess, 'fast' is a relative term

How are you benchmarking it?  All the benchmarking actions I've used (Radial blur, gaussian blur, etc..) ran fastest with CS2 on my 3.4 GHz, 2GB DDR2, dual RAID 0 (7.2K SATA and PATA) workstation.  7.0 and CS was faster on my older 1GHz desktop and laptops.  Either way, the speed difference was barely noticeable and certainly not enough to recommend 7.0 over CS2!

You can get PS Elements 2 on eBay for about $25.00, maybe less. It will do anything you want to do.
