On the news tonight they announced the installation of 60 new camera systems I believ in the Fairfax Area,that will automatically ticket anyone who speeds, mailing the ticket to your house.

Even if they are in DC we have too many here in northern VA.  It is bull.  As if they were not getting enough revenue from us with state and local takes with all the bravo sierra they attach to cars they are going to shorten the yellow lights!  It sucks, hopefully I will be out of here soon.

If it is a police state, then it should be the safest and freest of all other states in the union. Guns or even a cell phone with 911 on speed dial aren't even necessary anymore! You civilians should be grateful for the hard work of your LEOs to bring you the highest level of security attainable!

I also don't see anyting about gun control or the freedon of speech. But its just wrong to do some things. Now I know alot of people see these cameras as a safety thing but alot of people also see gun control as a safety thing. This shouldn't be supported, even by the police. Police are supposed to try to stop people from speeding not just be a revenue collecting agency. Spending their money on more officers to look for drunk drivers and to patrol the streets actually slowing people down is more usefull.

I'll stop speeding when off duty cops stop speeding.

It's obvious to me what this is about!!

This has NOTHING to do with safety or reducing crime, this is simply about money!!!

 Essentially most traffic citations are all about revenue for the given government agency,
(muncipal,county,state)
  That's it really, money for the annual budget so the burearocarcy can grow.

 I read an article about some motorcyclists in Holland who where intentionally speeding by one of these cameras dozens of times until it ran out of film.
 Then the camera is basicly useless!!

Governor Gilmore recently said he doesn't like the red light cameras.  Saying they are an invasion of privacy.    Not sure if this will lead anywhere or not.

Don't forget, that VA only has about 2 years left of [b]personal property[/b] taxes.  That is a huge loss of revenue which must be collected another way.

Just received my BS gawd damn personal property bills.  240 for my jeep and 105 for my mustang.

If anyone wants to see how much they would have to pay,  take 4.57% of your car's value as of Jan/2001.  That is what you pay.  Acually, that is was we had to pay,  we now only pay 70% of that value.  Next year it will be less and then 0.  Oh, this is only for the first 20,000 of a cars value.   [rolleyes]
