Seems that Houston TX is having a little spike in homicide and other violent crime rates due to absorbing a goodly number of Katrina "victims".

It is not just a little spike - I heard a few days ago that it was a 75% increase in the murder rate.

A personal friend of mine who lives just a mile or so away came home a few nights ago to find his neighbors, a man and woman who were to be married in a few months, murdered.

Apparently it was a home invasion/robbery.

I have had a huge increase in people looking for defensive shooting instruction.

Been hearing it on the news lately and I don't doubt it. Population was around 100k till they announced they'd pay a year of mortgage.....then it jumped to 150k in about a day.

I live here and was effected by Hurricane Rita and now the Fucktards responsible for the crime .........and guess what I got?

Well I'd like FEMA to reimburse me for the $2500 I spent on the new M4 I put together after returning from 2 weeks in New Orleans after Katrina and realizing that if something of that magnitude happened around here, I'd be on my own to protect myself & my family.

I'm guessin that ain't gonna happen though

While I disagree with the federal government paying a city for the cost of policing, I do think crime has gone up significantly since Houston via Bill "the pussy" White opened its arms to the evacuees.

I work in Houston area hospitals. The people I have treated who were from the evacuated areas have not been the most upstanding citizens, overall.

Reportedly the overall crime rate is still down in Houston, but violent crime is up. Specifically homicides are up 70%
