That's an oldie. I live in Tennessee. The new highway patrol units are Chevrolet Impalas that don't have lightbars, even for marked units. They have a strobe dashlight, grille strobes, deck strobes, headlight strobes, and taillight strobes. BE WARNED, they are extremely fast for supercharged 6-packs. They register 140 or 160 and will run every bit of it. If they catch you and you run, you are in serious trouble. I'll try and get a picture online ASAP in case you're passing through.

Mikie

You'll never know what hit you.

Sad to say it, but the Oklahoma County Sheriff has a new VW marked like a cruiser.  They don't use it for enforcement, but it is painted just like the patrol cars.

We have totally unmarked Ford Crown Vics with dark tinted windows.  Other than the 3 radio antennas it looks totally stock.  All of the lights are hidden inside the stock lights, or behind the grill and on the rear dash.  They just sit right by the road and catch traveling fools all day long, every day on I-35 and I-40.

Sometimes they even bring out the "Black Suburban" - they sit in the center median and do racial profiling.  About 80% of the cars I see pulled over are driven by Hispanics.  It is staffed with officers from the DEA no less.  They are "on loan" to the local law enforcement community.

Day before yesterday they found 1 Billion dollars worth of Cocaine in a motor home from California headed to Tennessee.  They don't get to excited unless they find cash, though.  Because they get to keep at least 1/2 of what they find to buy more toys with.

A BILLION dollars worth of coke? It ain't no wonder they were caught. At a $1000.00 an ounce, which is way overboard, you are looking at 30 tons worth? The jackass driver was caught either because (a), the feds did a visual on it as the rig was running down the road or (b), the suspension couldn't handle the load. Either way, someone ain't to happy down south.

1 oz. = approx. 28 grams.  The street value of coke is usually in the $ 100.00 per gram range, or $ 2,800.00 per ounce.  Plus you know how the cops and the media sensationalize everything.

There is no telling how they came up with the value, but the people got pulled over for swerving off the road.  The drug dog was used on a walk around search and they made the bust.

The Coke truck crashed into a baking soda truck, so they weighed all the powder and just considered the baking soda as "cut".

The tip off on the truck it was making it's own white lines as it dorve down the highway.

sorry just had to be alittle wise.

prk,
The Arkansas Troopers cars are white with blue stripes. They are usually Crown Vics but we are seeing many more Impalas. The Impalas I've been in will not do 140! Chevy sets the governor at 124 with 3.8 V-6 police package. however the limiting factor is the oil cooling. The computer will shut down fuel if the oil gets too hot. Usually happens about 115, unless you have an auxiliary oil cooler. Off the line the Impalas will eat the Crowns, and run circles around them in handling.
