I do.

On a whole, I agree with the democrat's progressive social stance, and agree with republican's beliefs concerning "liberal" economics, conservative fiscal/monetary policy, and the open market.

I also support the NRA and other pro firearms groups. I think that the democratic party has learned that supporting idiot soccer moms costs them votes. Seeing as to how firearms are much more protected these days than before, I don't see why voting democratic is a big issue. I also judge each candidate as a whole... there is more to politics than gun control. Much like how you guys seem to hate McCain, even though he's a republican, I prefer democrats who don't buy into the Brady campaign BS.

It's kind of like... calculating expected utility in your mind. If guns are safe for now, why would I vote for a republican whose stance on social issues I don't agree with? If 2nd ammendment rights were under attack, then i'd temporarily abandon my proggressive social stance and vote to protect them. If a democratic candidate ran with banning guns being a big part of his rhetoric I wouldn't vote for him/her.

Yes. Yes they do.

I worked on a telecom site in Philadelphia --the turf of IBEW local 98-- in 1996, and the electricians on the job who owned guns were absolutely planning to get the vote out for Clinton on election day. The democrats are "for the working man" as I was told, so really there was no choice to be made.

Republicans are the party of the rich
Democrats are the party of the poor and oppressed

In order to maintain power a party must expand it's base by including more people.

Therefore the republicans must make more people rich, and the democrats must make more people poor and oppressed.

Anyone here familiar with the FAL Files knows a few members there more left than Hugo Chavez and they own many guns, inluding EBR's, and actively support the radical elements of their party such as palozi, Robert Earl, et al.

My dad is a lib, he has given me guns for my b-day and Christmas (which is not illegal in my state), hell he even gave me a CETME as a Christmas present last year. I've met the rare black rifle or handgun owning "progressive". The ones I've met are urban,and very authoritarian so far as it affects implementation of their socialist agenda. They believe that they should be allowed to own guns, but that most other gun owners are idiots. It's a position of extreme condescension from what I've seen. Far more common are the liberal hunter types who don't like handguns, black rifles, or some other variety of guns- so called 2nd amendment "moderates".
