We have a Jack Russell Terrier, 2yrs. old. This dog is usually very active as all Jacks are, we took her to the groomer on friday for a 'cut and dip' and seemed to be fine when we got home.

But she has been very 'subdued' since yesterday, not really listless or anything, but something is deffinately 'off', she seems to be eating okay (she didn't refuse the couple of bits of Ham left over from my breakfast)

She just doesn't seem to be running around as much as she usually does, my wife wants to take her temp. but I don't know what is 'normal' range???

Does anyone have any ideas???.....

Is his nose dry? And is it cold or hot?

So far I got two answers, range between 99 and 102.5.

Her nose is 'wet and cool' to touch.

I know it's done rectally, thanks......

100 to 102.5 depending on breed, time of year, and activity.  I used to do animal rescue.  I've shoved many thermometers up many a dog's ass.  Never once got bit for it either,  queer ass dogs.

This is the best answer so far.  Dogs temps run hotter then peoples I think 101-102 is about correct.

Thats been my experience with my sled dogs.

Remember, sometimes they are just having a " dogs day"

If they eat, drink and poop, chances are, they are ok.

My Jack Russell doesn't stand still long enough to take her temperature.

Maybe the groomer gave it a nice little sedative?

come clean.  You just wanted an excuse to stick something up your dogs ass.

Hope your dog isn't sick, though.  Probably got into some christmas goodies.

any idea if anything traumatic happened at the groomers?

Temp is good, but any terrier that is "subdued" is cause for concern.

How well do you know the groomer?
