Is $200 a reasonable honorarium for the officiant at a wedding? Too much? Too little? It's to be a 150 guest church wedding w/Communion. FWIW, the officiant is salaried at about $70K a year. I need to settle the question before tomorrow afternoon.

The tradition down home is for the bride and groom to send the preacher a dollar a year til he dies.

Since when did a priest get a salary?  $200 sounds reasonable.

At my parish, the priests get spending money, but don't get any salary.

Most get salaries. They maybe men of the cloth but they are also people and need people type things.

You dont want your pastor to be a beggar in your parish.

Went with $200. He seemed pleased when I spoke to him this morning.

Good move.  I paid around $125 years back, so you're right in the ball park.

The only problem is, the warranty was no good,  and it didn't feel right to ask him for a refund.

So I hope you didn't let her eat any cake,  there's something in it that causes headaches.
