I've been eating fast food and stuff high in fat and carbs, I even make sure to do it right before I go to sleep.  I'm still not gaining weight.  Is there anything I can do to help me gain weight without giving myself an early heart attack?

Your genetics play an important role, just as some people can't loose weight and can pack it on, you can eat whatever you want and not gain it.  Just give up trying to gain it.

believe it or not exercise and eat your heart out, if you work out your body uses the food to make more mass not just poop it out

If you are trying to get fat, keep eating more.

If you are trying to put on useful weight, get to the gym and focus on the big compound exercises (squat, deadlift, bench, and overhead press).

Believe me, once you can squat 300 for 20 reps, you'll be plenty big.

Wait until you turn 25 or so.

At least that is when my metabolism got lazy.

I weighed 120 pounds until college.  Went up to 125.
Graduated, got married, went up to 135.

When I hit 25, it started steadily going up.  I was at the doctor's yesterday, and I am 166 at 34.

That's because they can't poop it out.......

Actually, go to a health food/vitamin store and get some protein supplement powder.  Drink it with whole milk and an egg each morning.  At lunch and dinner, drink a can of ensure along with your meal.  Also exercise.  Carbs and fat just makle you fat, proteins make you bulk up properly.  Include strength exercises.  A good workout daily (at least 3 days a week) will help.

Get Married and older.  I hit 30 and instantly gained 20 pounds, at 35 I had to fight to keep it to only 5 more, next year I hit 40 (or does it hit me)  I know I have to work at it all the time to not turn into a balloon.

I'm suddenly inspired to do a post count/ body mass survey here, to look for any correlation...

That being said, eat right and work out (I don't mean do a few sit-ups and run around the block). Hungry muscles are good mass potential.

Why don't you hit the gym, lift hard and avoid cardio? i've designed workout programs for friends and they've put on as much as 20 pounds in 8-10 weeks.

Lots of carbs and lots of protein. Check for some mass gainers in health food stores to help you stuff more calories in.
