I have to admit, I never thought I'd be impressed by Ford. I'm not trying to stary a Ford v. The World pissing match, but in terms of cars Ford was never really on my radar, so to speak.
Then...I saw the SVT Mustang Cobra in action. 40-120MPH in 4th gear clocking about 410HP @ 6100RPM...can you say DAAAAAAAAAAAMN? Well, sheeit... DAAAAAAAAAAAMN Now that's what I'm talkin' about. I was standing near the engine bay during the runs and feeling the whine coming off that supercharger was something else...a thing a beauty. The car was an 03, with new blower pulleys and a tighter blower belt and a tune. That's it. |
Were they BilletFlow pulleys? |
Bahahahahahahahahahaaha! I'd hate like to hell to get involved in a crash while driving a little humped up piece of shit like that. |
i've seen a few of them cobras on the street here...they are very very nice!!!
There is something about cars, I just do not understand why people are 'into them'.
Even old ones..I can not remember the last time I gave a car a 2nd glance. |
My brother in law bought a used Cobra and he had a blower and intercooler installed. Can you say sleeper. Hate to say it it will take a stock C6 off the line.
Basically. An SVT Cobra BETTER have AT LEAST 410 hp...or I'd be pissed. It's not hard to get 350hp/430ft. lbs. of torque out of a 2.3Turbo ford. So 410 out of a V8? should be no problem... In fact I've seen many V8 crate motors that are 400hp+ and naturally aspirated. 383 stroker GM crate motors come to mind... |
How many sheets of plywood can you haul in that chickmobile?
If you have to ask that question, you really do not understand young Skywalker. |
Except that this is a factory built car where they have to figure in reliability, emissions and fuel economy. A factory turbo/super charged car is way better, in terms of reliability, than slapping a turbo/super charger on you naturally aspirated engine. |

Maybe I'm just the wrong gender, Princess Leia. |

The GT 500 isn't out yet but the Saleen S281 is: http://www.saleen.com/s281_coupe.htm

That issue is between you and your maker young Skywalker. |

How 'bout this one. musclemustangfastfords.com/features/0406mm_pickup/ |
A guy I work with has an '05 Saleen S-281. About a month after he got it, he put a Vortech supercharger, 4:10 gears and a re-mapped computer program in it. That wasn't enough for him, so he had the exhaust changed and had a bigger pully put on the blower. That damn thing runs like a scalded dog. And it looks great also. I am jealous as hell!!!!
BilletFlow belongs to a riding buddy of mine and his Dad. I worked for them during a layoff a while back and helped troubleshoot the pulleys and developed the instructions for the Oval Bore Throttle Body they do for the Cobra. As a bike guy, I'm not easily impressed by a "cage", but the Cobra I drove for 2 weeks while working with the throttle body was fun in a fast go-kart kinda way! |
Well shit, 350hp out of an LS1. 400hp out of an LS2. And Ford came up with a "390hp SUPERCHARGED v8". Woooow. Those guys sure are innovators. |

Go ask chevy to make something that competes with this... |
Oh I know you aren't gonna parade an overpriced car into this thread. I may lean more towards Chevy but at least the fords mentioned earlier CAN be purchased by real people. |
Um, I'm no Chevy lover... I actually prefer Fords, but you may want to look at the specs on the new ZO6. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Best lap time 1:32.75 Best lap average speed (mph) 73.0 0-60 mph/quarter-mile (sec) 4.1/12.0 Braking 70-0 mph (ft) 149 Cornering l/r (g) 1.10/1.09 Weight (lb) 3147 Distribution f/r (%) 50.9/49.1 Top speed (mph) 198 Ford GT Best lap time 1:32.45 Best lap average speed (mph) 73.2 0-60 mph/quarter-mile (sec) 3.8/12.2 Braking 70-0 mph (ft) 156 Cornering l/r (g) 1.03/1.01 Weight (lb) 3489 Distribution f/r (%) 43.4/56.6 Top speed (mph) 205 At less than half the price of the GT, the Corvette is VERY close to the GT in every category. If GM releases the "Blue Devil", they will have the GT beat... by quite a bit. |

Until something factory blows. |

6.0L / 400hp / 400ft-lbs, $28k |

Floyd Garret's Muscle Car Museum in Tn has one like that. His is a SS454 with cowl induction. Quite a rare car I think. M4-AK |
one of these days i gotta get me a super sharger for my stang
Your bank account thanks you!! |
There comes a moment in every long time Mustang enthusiast life to clear out the stable of currently owned 'Stangs, and wait patiently for the '06 GT to make it's way in.
And I am NOT refering to a Mustang GT. |
Well, it's a good thing you're at least into guns, otherwise you'd have to turn in your man card. |
My 383 dynoed at 450hp, 450ft.lbs. ~5000 rpm. naturally aspirated. |

I've had the chance to ride in an Aveo. It is not the shitbox that you think it is. I don't need to curl myself into a pretzel to get into it, it actually has some decent room, and it's overall a nice car. Granted, it's not going to accelarate or handle like a Ferrari, but it's simple, basic transportation. What some people want. It even comes with an MP3 stereo. |
I like. A lot. |

My 20 year old, $7000 Buick puts 498hp AT THE REAR WHEELS with the help of a turbo and a little nitrous...(That's approx 650hp at the flywheel.)
Without the nitrous, it makes almost 400hp at the wheels...(Approx 500 at the flywheel.) Here's a video from about two weeks ago... home.comcast.net/~yullose001/Art_Nitrous_run.wmv |
Street legal? If so, I bet you just love to go out and catch some mid-life-rocket drivers off guard. |
He speaks the truth, I have an 02 that a vette can't touch. |
Extremely street legal. It's the most docile hotrod I've ever owned. I ran an 11.15 @ 121mph with it (on drag radials) two months ago using the nitrous. Without nitrous, it went 12.25 @ 114mph. This is in "street trim" and exactly the way I drive it to work.... You'd never know this was a low-11sec/high-10sec car by looking at it... How scary looking is this ? |
Here's a video of my brother's Chevelle I put on the dyno...
Over 800hp at the rear wheels... home.comcast.net/~yullose001/Jerrys_Chevelle_NOS.wmv |
Nice looking..but trucks are for towing and hauling..When I'm going 100+ I want my butt a few inches from the road..not several feet..God forbid a highway should have some curves in it..you'd get killed trying to keep up with a new Corvette |
