I was talking to a regular in the store I work at who happens to be a "federal agent guy", I actually have no idea what he does except that he works for the government, something about working for the man next to the president. Anyways, we were talking guns today, as usual, and he told me that I could go out of state and buy an AR15 and have it sent to a dealer in CA who could then give it to me. Is this true? Could it be? He said the federal ban had expired and this was now legal, as long as I dont sell it to anyone in this state. Oh great ARFCOM, please tell me this is true!

The "federal agent guy" is very wrong. Probably an ATF JBT looking to make an easy sting.

He was only correct for him and other LEOS in CA.  As a non-LEO you can not buy one or import one into the state.

Sorry

You can buy a complete AR15 modified with our FAB 10 lower receiver.  It is the only patented DOJ approved lower receiver in California legally today.

The only way a non LEO or Mil (civi) can bring an "assault weapon" into the state is to be a non-resident and bring the weapon into the state only for a sanctioned match or competition on a licensed range. You do not have to register the AW with the state.   You have to go directly to the range and then from the range back out the state.  Also the DOJ there can issue a permit for SBR from out of state also.

Thanks guys and girls...Thats what i thought, I was just clinging to that small hope that there was some sort of loop hole and I could finally have my AR15.

Btw, I would love to move out but movin' is expensive.

It's only as expensive as you make it. It's worth it. Freedom feels nice.

No way, no how. You can't even buy one that is already there. You can't even inherit one that is already there. If you have one in California, and you die, your heirs have to sell it out of state. There are even restrictions on transporting them in California.

Your only chance at anything close is the receivers above that are built to hold only ten rounds and not accept detachable mags.

There are several fixed-magazine lowers available in CA. The FAB-10 being the most expensive, the altered Bushmaster being less, and lesser still are the Vulcan and the DPMS single-shot receivers. They are ALL DOJ-approved.

The benefits of one over the other are iffy.. The biggest advantage to one over the other, say the Vulcan over the FAB-10 is that you can remove the Vulcan magazine and replace it with one that isn't cut-down or has shaved down anti-tilt legs on the follower, which leads to a more reliable rifle. ETA: Price is also a big incentive.

what about if you are in the military?

my brother is stationed there, and I heard a rumor that if you are military you can get special permission from some office in california that will allow you to bring it there.
