Here's five of mine -
Jesus Christ Second Amendment Life liberty and pursuit of happiness (my country) My wife To stop the murder of a stranger (not sure if I'd do this 100% of teh time) ____________________ What are yours? Alot of us argue loudly for certain things here at Arfcom. What would you die for? |
I was hoping people to elaborate on the "beleifs" part. WHICH beliefs?? |
Folk, Family, Faith.
The better question: What would you kill for???? |
My family and my freedom, without either my life isn't worth living.
"If I am going to die for a word, then my word is pootang.." -Animal mother, FMJ
Defense of myself and my Family.
Defense of my country. Defense of some unarmed people being attacked. |
Your list is great, just a couple of mods:
Jesus Christ My wife Family Second Amendment Life liberty and pursuit of happiness (my country) I reordered them a bit. I wouldn't necessarily stick my neck out for someone but it all depends on the situation. Edit: added "family", I'm a sentimental boy. |
When I die is up to Him. But I am willing to do so, if ever it comes to that. |
I would die for my belief in God, my family, and my freedom. And yeah, I'd also RISK my life to save a stranger. BUT... I'm not sure if I'd KNOWINGLY give-up my life for a stranger. There is a difference. The first one is a gamble. I bear a heavy responsibility (five kids and a wife are counting on me) and I'm not sure it'd be "right" to throw my life away [even for another] in consideration of that.
I thought 'god' decided when it was you time.... and WHY would JC need you to die for him??? That doesn't make any sense. |
My wife
The Queen I'd RISK my life for others, especially children (and possibly even particularly cute pets) - but in terms of knowingly choosing to die for something, it's only those two. |
Are you serious about The Queen part? If so, thats pretty cool. |
Totally serious. To me, she represents the heart of what my country stands for. PLus, it becomes a habit when you work in her personal guard regiment for three years - and old habits die hard ETA: Most people would more likely think it's pretty insane, as opposed to cool (especially in the US, obviously) |
He doesn't NEED anyone to die for him. But you'd have to believe in him to understand this feeling. Perhaps a little history is in order. People used to be killed for their belief in Christ. Actually, in some countries in Africa they are STILL being killed for that belief. I'm not one to think that if some guy's got a machete at your neck that it's not okay to "deny" Jesus to the murderer but never deny him in your heart. Christ knows if your belief is true or not. But the point still stands that there are those who think their savior is important enough to die for if it ever came to that. It's valid. |
That's what I said.
Its not a matter of need. It has to do with the fact that He already died for me. Its a love debt that I'd pay if MEN ever forced the issue. (Google: Polycarp) But Jesus doesn't "need" anything from me. |

FREEEEDOMMMM!
Just watched braveheart last night. I had forgotten how truly amazing that movie is. |
And, Christians killed millions of people - just because they didn't worship some alien god. So what. Any 'god' that you'd have to die for, doesn't sound like much of a god IMO. |
can we not turn this into a holy war?
my list is: My daughter My wife Family my partner my country |
Murder is STRICTLY probited by Christ. SO I REALLY doubt these you speak of were CHRISTians.
Interesting standard. |
Do they know about each other??? |
Pretty much every thread I'm in the religion bashers come after me. On their behalf, I apologize. |
I don't think it's insane, I just think its cool you have a "leader" (figurehead or otherwise) that you are willing to die for (not just risk your life as clarified before). |
Haven't enough people died for the sake of religion?
My Family My Country (USA) I think thats all. What else do ya need???? |
Makes me wonder - How many would die for our President? Not sure I would (any more so than any other stranger that I'd use my CCW to defend) |
shhhh |
I wouldn't die for religion. Prolly wouldn't even break a sweat for it. Jesus Christ is a person who died (and rose) for me. |
I wouldn't put my hand up and volunteer to die for anything, I would put myself in harms way for my wife, my family, a few friends. I don't know honestly if I would be willing to die for anything else.
I thought 'god' made the rules...not 'christ'........ and I see no rules against killing, but you'll come along and point out that when you murder for god, it's not "murder". secondly, you seem to be overlooking all the times 'god's favored tribe' was victorious in battle. Oh yeah... not "murder"... I guess "killing for god" is OK....just not "murder". I fail to see the point of you warping a statement and trying to compare a god with a point on a map. |

Start another thread. |
I wouldnt die for anything.. I would never willingly give up my life. That is suicide.
So all those first three are ahead of the woman you sleep with, fuck soundly, and then have breakfast with? Shame on you, for being an idealist moron. |
Did I say they were in order of priority? No. I did not. Moron. |
Ice cream is something you kill for, not die for. |
My close family and best friends
My community. The second amendment |
Wife
Country Constitution A stranger in dire need (being attacked or drowning etc.) |
Seems to me the better question is: "What are you willing to kill for?" Me? My Family, my country and myself. Nuff said! |
dammit, too late. |
